What does error 20003 mean?

I keep getting “Failed to connect. Error code: (20003)” on my wyze og randomly. I can’t seem to find any info about the 20003 error code. Viewing in the Wyze app on android.

((The standard info, camera within 15 feet of wifi router, have the 1.0.82 firmware, app is updated 3.1.0.564, (happens on both an android 10 and an android 14 device) have unplugged and plugged back in the camera and router, tried restarting the camera from the app. Issue had occurred “before” and and still occurs after .82 update, so probably not related to that. Usually have to force close the app and restart for the og to show live view. Happens on local WiFi and 5G mobile. Its random.))

Honestly I never pay attention to the error number, but failed to connect pretty much means just that. If it works after force quitting the app and going back in, it seems like the app or something on your phone may be freezing up.

One of the challenges is every android phone and OS variant can behave a bit differently with power saving, allowing apps to run in the background, etc. On mine I have the wyze app set to NOT allow “running in background” and I close the app every time I’m done with it (leaving it running can cause the phone to eventually pause it to save power or memory, which can cause issues with many apps).

Does the issue tend to occur when the app has been in the background for a while and you switch back to it? Of course you can enable the “running in background” option, or look at the options in android for the app and power saving/background use, but all those will typically use up more battery and have less memory available for other apps, so I prefer to just make sure everything is closed out when I’m not using it.

Sometimes happens when I first open the app. Sometimes it will load correctly the first time, then if I quickly leave the app and go back the og will get that error. Tried turning power saver data saver on/off, I might try the keep background on and see if that does anything.

When you close the app, are you using the application switcher to fully close it out? If not when you “open” the app you may just be opening that old instance that has been paused/powered down by the OS.

Even being 15 feet apart, are there any obstructions between your camera and WiFi access point? My v3 cameras don’t like my metal refrigerator, water heater or furnace in the line of sight to my access point.

I finally found a place for my WiFi access point where all of my IoTs are happy. You might try moving things around even if it is only temporary to test.
