I turned my wyze cam 《V2》 Into a webcam just a couple of days ago, I was wondering if anyone has been having trouble taking the cam back into factory mode. Because mine doesn’t want to go back into factory reset mode even though I have followed the directions from Wyze.com. It would be great if anyone could help me with this problem.

So you want to turn the webcam V2 back into a regular V2? Have you tried re-flashing the current regular production firmware onto the camera? go here, then release notes to find the current version.
When I try to flash after installing the webcam firmware it doesn’t seem to sense the reset button. It always boots the webcam firmware.
Try doing a factory reset before flashing. If you have a Cam v2, remove SD card and follow instructions at the bottom of this page: https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us/articles/360031490831-Firmware-failed-to-update
As I read elsewhere, using the setup button for a factory reset doesn’t change the firmware, only resets the wifi information. When I initially tried flashing back to the standard firmware I mistakenly had V3 firmware on the SD card. When I tried flashing with V2 software, success!!!
v2 reset problem here as well. Won’t reset to factory, and won’t take a manual flash of the latest firmware. When I put the card in, hold the reset button and plug in power, it goes through all the connection things, but the yellow light never. ever. ever. turns blue until I release the button… then it goes into the loop of setting up a new device. The camera works fine actually, and when I look at the app with both cameras on the screen it does its thing, but if I select the problem camera to view on its own, it prompts for a firmware update - but never takes it and you can’t do anything about it but close and restart the app. If there was a ‘skip this update’ option that would really fix my problem.

Pay special attention to the file structure on the SD card, first format it to FAT32 (32GB or smaller card), then make sure the file in in the right place, I think some versions of instructions incorrectly said to put it in a folder, when the file should be in the root of the card named the way they say to name the folder. Not sure if they’ve been corrected or not.
When it prompts for a firmware update, does it not succeed?
I have two identical v2 cameras, purchased at the same time. They both worked great for several years. I’m using the same micro SD card to update both of them (yes, FAT32, files in root directory, etc). One camera does what it should, the other one does not respond to any efforts to either restore it back to factory, or take the update (any update, even older ones). Any attempt to look at, edit, etc. the camera in the ap spawns a firmware update notice. There is no cancel or skip option. Installing the automatic update fails every time and the ap has to be closed and restarted to do anything else.
Is it possible the setup button on that cam isn’t responding so it isn’t entering the firmware update process? May need to press the button hard with something pointed (but not sharp), could have some corrosion on it.

I saw that some other people experienced that but when I press/ hold the reset button it responds by the lights changing color, blinking, etc. it just doesn’t actually ever reset or read the card. It is writing events to the card however so it recognizes that it’s there. When the camera power cycles I understand that with or without pressing the reset button it’s supposed to read the card and if it finds an update file it runs it? It doesn’t do that either.
Maybe the button is somewhat intermittent so when you think you’re holding it, it is actually reading it as a few presses and not entering recovery mode.
I’ve not heard of being able to do firmware recovery without holding the button. That’s not to say it isn’t possible, but all the instructions always say to do that.
But if you’re not able to get it to factory reset, either there is some issue with the button, or somehow the cam has gotten corrupted or is dying.
I’d remove the SD card and focus on trying to get it to factory reset first. If you can get it to do that, then you know the button is working/holding ok and it should hopefully now be able to do the manual firmware process.
Random idea - try a different power adapter/cable - maybe the one from the cam that worked fine? Low power can cause lots of issues. Probably not it, but worth a try.
