I might have to test this out when I get a chance.
@Antonius or anyone else with a WCO, will you check and see if you can replicate this? Does the cooldown go away if you remove all the detections?

I’ll try it on two WCO v1 today.
My mistake, further testing shows my Cooldown work around does not work. Sorry!
I tested two cams (WCO v1) three times in the last hour, cooldown is still present. It was worth the try. ![]()
I opened a ticket via chat, that they have now converted to an email exchange.
They ‘act’ as if though this is something they have never heard about.
They are asking me to do the following to attempt to resolve this issue,
Is Wyze really not able to duplicate this issue in house? I find that hard to believe, and assuming that is the case, I find it annoying that I’m being asked to waste my time performing these steps for an issue that should, by now, be easy to create in house and also should of had a solution for by now.
Am I missing something obvious here?
Is this a ploy by Wyze to get us to abandon ‘old’ technology, and move to the new technology? (Doubtful, but still makes one wonder why this bug is still there).
SJ
I am also still experiencing this problem and Support is acting as though it’s the first time they have heard of it. It really is time to move off Wyze methinks.
They don’t even know what a WCO is anymore. It has been over 1 Year and they have not interest in using any resources to fix it. My 4 year old cams still work but they still have the 1 min cooldown.
Same!
For over a year, I’ve had 2 WCO V2 (CAM PLUS subscription) with the same problem; no cooldown => 1 min cooldown the next time I check it.
WYZE PLEASE FIX THIS BUG THAT MANY HAVE REPORTED. YOU’VE REPLICATED IT, NOW FIX IT. It drastically reduces the value of my setup because it adds a one-minute gap in the middle of whatever is detected!
After going around in circles with the Wyze bot and an uninformed Support person on December 15, I received this lovely message from Louise.
"Thank you for contacting Wyze support and for your patience! I hope your day has been going great. This is Louise, one of the tech specialist here at Wyze, please allow me to take over on behalf of my colleague. I understand you’re experiencing issues with the cooldown on your Wyze Cam Outdoor v2. I’d be happy to help!
Thank you for submitting the log ID 1676017. I’ve forwarded this to our engineering team, and they will be conducting further research to investigate the issue.
I understand that this process may take some time, and I truly appreciate your patience as we work toward a resolution. Once the fix is implemented, it will be included in a future firmware or app release, which you can download when it becomes available.
In the meantime, if anything else comes up or you notice additional details about the issue, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’ll make sure any updates are shared with our engineers to help expedite the investigation.
Thank you again for your understanding, and I hope you have a wonderful day!"
To which I said, on 17 Dec:
"Thanks for your message.
I note that this is a longstanding and well known issue which, as you can see from comments in the Wyze forum, annoys many users.
I look forward to a timely and effective resolution. "
No further response so I followed up today (30 Dec) and received this message:
“You have replied to a closed ticket.”
They just don’t care.
For alternatives to Wyze.

As the originator of bringing up this issue a year ago, I highly recommend y’all to just give up on Wyze and move on to Ring. They are consistently shelling out discounts on their Ring Stick Up cameras or you can by “like new” for 49.99 right now or by brand brand new for 54.99 when it goes on sale. It feels great to have left Wyze and honestly it was the best decision ever. Funnily enough I still use the same mounting holder for the Wyze cam v2 but just had to by the solar panels that were compatible to the Ring Stick Up cam.
Ridiculous… having had Ring Stick Up cameras for a year now, I am so glad I pulled the trigger and switched. And that’d be the same advice I give to everyone in this thread.
LEAVE WYZE!! It’ll give your sanity back and not deal with the ridiculous cooldown issue that they have no plans on ever fixing IMO.
Of all the things in life that can be frustrating, such as, insurance companies, auto dealerships, people driving their 4-wheelers, co-workers, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, Wyze does not even make the list.
I just added it to my calendar to check the setting every so often. I do wonder how long the battery would last if it recorded (to the cloud) non-stop.
WCO v1 - Event Recording - stuck on 1 Minute Cooldown
Why are my Wyze Camera Outdoor V1’s still not letting me set the Event Recording Cooldown to “No Cooldown”
All Eight of them, I change them to “No Cooldown”, the revert to 1 Minute. This is making these camera’s useless. I’m paying for Cam Plus on these Cameras.
I opened a case with support, and they acted as if though they have not heard of this issue. They forward the case up the chain.
I was told I’d get an email followup.
I’ve seen nothing in the way of an email to resolve this issue.

I believe that is because they are battery cams their minimum is 1 minute, but someone can correct me if I’m wrong.
@CatHome The issue of the 1 minute cooldown started 6 November 2023 and was caused by a firmware update. WYZE definitely knows about it since at first they said the could not replicate it then they said they could and they would work on a fix that has never happened and never will. There were hundreds of support tickets sent in including four of mine that all got closed. The issue was listed on the Fix it Friday list for 6-7 months before that went away.
If you want no cooldown you have to put an SD card in the cam, set it for scheduled event recording, set for 30 days, MOTION ONLY, No Cooldown and a Max duration of each videos up to 5 minutes. You can record cloud events and to the card at the same time. The camera will record to the SD as long as motion continues.
July 2024:
That is quite sad.
It is sadder for users that are paying for Cam Plus for just those cams. I have Cam Unlimited and I only use my old battery powered WCO v1 cams to view different critters. I move them around often, especially when the red squirrels keep Knocking the over.

Plz do a quick search before posting, cuz… otherwise users will respond to a new thread, which effectively deletes ALL the history of the topic.
