Im new to this forum. And not sure if this is where I should be asking.
But is there a reason why when I share access to the camera with my husband he can only view it live and not the history? Or is there a setting I or he is missing in our apps to be able to enable this for him?
Is this possibly something that is in the works for a later update? Or do I now have to pay just so he can view the history as well?
We would buy more products IF he had the same abilities/access that I do.
Welcome to the Forum, @geri-hyde-2! You’re asking the questions in the right place.
Yes.
No.
I wish I knew the answer to that!
Nope. The thing a lot of users seem to do in this situation is share credentials. In other words, your husband would log into the Wyze app on his phone or other mobile device using your Wyze account (your username and password). Currently that’s the only way of which I’m aware for him to have this same “device owner” level of access that you have (presumably the camera was added and set up under your account).
There’s a Wishlist item related to this and many other issues specific to sharing device access with other users:
I think it’s helpful to the community (and hopefully any Wyze employees tracking it) to add your comments and use case ideas to that topic, and definitely Vote for it by tapping or clicking the button above the first post.
To echo what others have said, this is a known limitation of guest accounts (there are others as well, such as automations potentially conflicting with each other, etc). As @Crease said, considering it is your husband, may just make sense to log in using the same account on both your devices. That is the only truly “fully shared” access to the cams.
The other option is if you subscribe to Cam Plus/Cam Unlimited, then guest accounts can watch the video clips from events, but they still cannot access the SD card. Without the subscription, they can see live video and still images of each event, but no recorded video.
My wife and I share the same login/password and have never had a single issue using the app. I’m even running the betas for iOS on my iPhone, and it never seems to give her an issues using the production version on her iPhone. Maybe try this instead?
