I hv WYZE Cam v2 1080p HD Indoor WiFi and it detects motion but just snaps a still photo. When I try to playback it keeps trying to sell me cam plus.
Do you have a µSD care installed in the camera?
And I assume you do not have CamPlus?

In-app prompts to subscribe are normal when trying to use some features, especially if you’re currently a nonsubscriber (though subscribers also sometimes report seeing unnecessary upsell prompts). How are you expecting to record video? Are you using a microSD card?
I notice that you tagged your post cam-og but then indicated that you’re using cam-v2. Since some cameras behave differently and have different UIs, being clear about what you’re using can help other community members provide you the best assistance.
For video you need Cam Plus Lite or Cam Plus service. Did your v2 ever record videos previously? If so, check in the App - Account - Services and see if your v2 is still assigned to your Cam Plus Lite service.
My camera is not showing in dropdown and dropdown is necessary to post. I hv this camera since 2028 and haven’t used in years. It recorded video when I used it years ago. Did firmware update and now it’s asking me to make a purchase to see video
Right I don’t but choosing a dropfown was necessary. I was able to re ord when I bought in 2019
So maybe cam-v1-v2 is more apt? I think those are lumped together as older camera models.
When you say that this camera previously recorded video, you still haven’t described how, so I think @K6CCC’s questions are appropriate, and I think @StevenA has also provided good guidance. Have you ever had this camera attached to a Cam Plus Lite subscription and/or used a microSD card to record video locally? Without more detail about what you’re doing and trying to do, we’re going to be struggling and playing guessing games in attempts to help.

I use a micro SD card without a subscription.
Maybe someone who has been using Wyze longer than me (2022) can chime in. I believe when the Cam v1 and Cam v2 were released, Cloud video was available without a subscription.
I am wondering if the OP was getting Cloud video in 2019 `and no longer getting Cloud videos because Cam Plus or Cam Plus Lite subscription is now required for Cloud videos.
My cameras that I purchased in 2020 all had free 12 second videos. I think Cam Plus lite was required in 2021 or 2022 with the option to pay $0.00 for the 12 second videos. I have cam unlimited but I also have a Cam Plus Lite listed on my account.
You’ve been a camera user longer than I have: My oldest is a Cam Pan v3 activated in March 2023. I started with the original Plugs in 2019.
I have no reason to doubt that, and I think you’re right to ask about Cam Plus Lite in particular.

seems the cam plus lite is not working any longer? I order a micro SD…a bit annoying but thank you.
Cam Plus Lite still works they’re just not letting in any new users. People that signed up for and got CPL in 2022 can still use it on compatible cams.
SD card is they way to go.
Didn’t sign up. Don’t know what I am missing. I am fine with a micro SD.
