Yea, it is not the norm for a doorbell. but I have white siding and screen door. so it blends in, except the camera. Etsy has some enclosures, I am sure others are coming up with some.
The Eufy worked great and really is a good doorbell. I would not have an issue recommending it to individuals.
It is pricier than the Wyze doorbell, but I already own it . (It is a battery doorbell which I now have wired)
Size is not ideal for me, but I made it work.
Picture quality appears to be a lot better on the Wyze, Cannot explain why, but I think it is attributed to the aspect ratio. I will post pictures when I am done installing it.
I like how the wyze fills the phone when looking at the feed or event. Eufy tries to do the same, but the aspect ratio hinders it.
IMO, The Wyze Doorbell seems to load faster
Eufy requires a base station, if you are outside of its range, you will need to purchase another. Wyze uses WiFi, I have great WiFi signal.
The Biggest part is that I am trying to get to one ecosystem, as much as possible.
But, I cannot say I was disappointed with the Eufy Doorbell,
Oh Yea - let me also say that I am a technology junkie. Been in the field for 37 years and enjoy it immensely. just seeing where we are compared to where we came from amazes me.
I also have brought others into the Wyze Ecosystem. The only way I can recommend a product is for me to test it out. I am looking at these doorbells for my in-laws. So I needed it to be sure as he is into technology and in his 80’s.
How did you determine the optimal location/height for it?
I had to choose between seeing people’s heads well vs seeing the packages left on the porch…it was hard for me to set it up to have both, and I am considering making some slight adjustments.
I cheated. I used the USB cable, held it in different positions until we determined the optimal spot. It will capture anything about 2 ft from the door. But if a package is extremely close to the door, then we will not see it.
I could use one of the vertical wedges and have it angled down some, that would guarantee I can see the ground, but then it would look awkward.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I installed the doorbell finally to test it out. What level of sensitivity do you have detections set at? I’m noticing the camera isn’t picking up people walking across the field of view.
Also is there no way to view the full timeline if the event isn’t captured? That’s super annoying.
I really wish you could disable the blue light. Also it flashes when there’s motion?!? I really hope they allow you to disable it. Or I might just get out some tape and cover it.
My sensitivity is currently at 90. I am currently experimenting with it. @Ken.S has his set to 50. However, the detection zone is more flexible and allows you to block off areas you don’t want. I was getting a lot of alerts as I have Full Motion and AI, but once I blocked it off, everything calmed down and i was getting better notifications.
Not sure exactly what you are asking, since there is no SD card, I don’t believe continuous recording is doable. But there is a way to see all of the recordings/events. You can filter the Events in the events tab.
Oh sorry by full timeline I did mean continuous recording. What you said makes sense. It is a shame that you can only rely on what gets triggered to record.
WARNING - I bought two of these at HD. I was tired of waiting for WYZE to make them available (still not available). I like that they included the CamPlus. Today my free trial of CamPlus ran out so I went to redeem the CamPlus codes.
DISCLAIMER - you are only allowed one. No where on the outside or inside of the box does it disclose that information. I only found it searching the FAQ after I discovered the code was being denied. I guess I will just move one of my existing CamPlus licenses from my V3’s to the other doorbell.
What? The individual box bundle is already marked up to include the cost of the CamPlus service but you can’t use two of them on the same Wyze account?
That would be CORRECT. I went to the “find help” search and found an FAQ that states only one HD coupon per account. I am a little butt hurt about it. The video doorbells don’t have any local storage option so CamPlus is kind of required.
But by the time you pay for Shipping, etc for a replacement through the Wyze website, I guess you’re not really saving enough money to make the hassle worthwhile. It’s just seems like for something like that, they should clearly post that it’s limited to one redemption per customer.
You might be able to try to sell your second code at a discount to someone who bought directly from Wyze and hasn’t used a HD code on their account yet…hmmm…that is an interesting idea for anyone who wants another Cam Plus license at a discounted rate. Honestly, considering the VDB now costs $45 before shipping through Wyze directly:
You’d only have to sell the extra license code for like $5 to make up the difference for the $50 HD cost. It’s still not fair, but it could help a little. I’m sure some people would pay $10 for it.
Has anyone else had issues with their camera recently? Not authenticating on step 3 also I’ve been getting the code 6 error retrieving footage and also the footage is very distorted and pink. Restarting the device seems to work for a while but it keeps doing it.
Not exactly that but I’ve had other issues that are starting to really annoy me. In playback, from v2 to the outdoor cam, the playback will partially play and then the circle arrow thing will sit there for a long time, just stuck, sometimes so long it never recovers. This is a new issue.
They fixed the sideways notification thumbnails on Cam Plus this week! The thumbnails are now in the right orientation, though on the downside they are cropped a little weird instead of showing the entire view. Sometimes making it not show something important in the thumbnail.
Events triggered within the custom grid detection zone will include video from a few seconds prior to the detection trigger now. In some cases starting the video a second before anything came into view, so for once it absolutely really is COMPLETE motion capture because it records what happened just before the trigger took place. It’s amazing! It wasn’t doing that for me before, but all my videos in the last few days have been showing me full clips and starting recording before the trigger instead a second or so after the trigger starts.
•Example: I have the detection zone start at the edge of the walkway up to my house, but events will show someone exit their car, cross the curb and then median/tree-belt and then the sidewalk and enter the walkway, then they trigger the detection zone a couple steps into the walkway and it uploads the event all the way back to when they crossed the curb instead of starting the event after they’re a few steps into the walkway where the detection zone starts. THIS IS VERY APPRECIATED (this way people passing my house on the sidewalk don’t trigger events, but I can still see events I care about that start from back on the sidewalk). Very cool.
GREAT updates Wyze! There wasn’t even an announcement about this. Anyone else? (apologies if this is a beta-only phenomena and should be posted in there…but since the changes didn’t coincide with any beta firmware release or announcement I am assuming it is not just for beta). Also, is this happening with ALL Cam Plus events now, or just the VDB? Anyone else notice this change?
