Video Doorbell

Having it on the outer siding would solve my problems. Don’t think the wife would like that look though .

Apologies if this was already asked and I didn’t see it…

Can the chime be programmed with Wyze Rules to trigger if a sensor goes off (in addition to the doorbell)? I’d love to have the chime double as a burglar alarm, essentially, so it goes off if someone breaks in and opens a window or door.

@UserCustomerGwen - do you know?

Wyze has confirmed the chimes will be available to rules. They told us you can link multiple chimes to a VDB through rules. This being the case, it means they will be options in rules. Anything that is in rules is available to link with all other devices. In other words, yes, they’ve indirectly told us that sensors can connect to/use the chime because the chime will be in rules to make it possible to use multiple chimes on a doorbell.

Did you beta test the doorbell?

Seems like it might be possible. One of the chime’s sounds is actually an alarm sound. It makes sense that other wyze products would be able to access the chime.

Technically you could use the v2 USB cable to power the doorbell. I don’t think it’s listed in the specs but there is a micro USB port on the back that power the doorbell. Only issue would be how far the cable sticks out from the back, you’d probably need to buy a cable with a angled head.

Another option if you don’t have an existing doorbell, it to get a plugin 24VA transformer, You can either drill a hole through the wall and plug it into an inside wall plug or if there is already an outdoor socket close, you could use that. Just be sure to have a weatherproof housing big enough to handle the transformer.

In the install videos that spot is covered. Is that a weather proof cover, or a removal of the connection blocker?

Ahh sneaky. This would look like the easiest solution for me. My entrance is totally covered and the only chance of it getting wet would be like a hurricane which will probably never happen. Thanks!

Apparently my question above was confusing so I’ll rephrase here:
CURRENT SETUP - currently powered by single 24VA transformer.
Current FrontDoor------Ding Dong
Current Garage Door----Ding
Current Existing Chimes in 3 locations (each currently announces ding, and ding-dong from either door).

Q1: Will Wyze Video Doorbell work in my scenario where there are two existing buttons running off the single 24VA Transformer (one doing a “ding-dong”, and one doing a “ding”), to three existing chimes?
Q2: In order to replicate this with Wyze do I buy two doorbell kits?
Q3: Will those two chimes “ding” or “ding dong” (or whatever chime) based on the door pressed?
Q4: Will I be able to buy a 3rd Wyze Chime to set in my 3rd location?
Q5: There’s no way to use the existing chimes, we’re just bypassing those existing chimes now, right?

Hmm. That FCC ID, 2ANJHWVDB1, is NOT currently listed on the fccid.io site, for whatever that’s worth.

I will do my best to answer your questions.
Q1: I’ll be honest, I don’t know. I had 2 doorbells (front and back), but only 1 chime. Front - ding dong; back - ding. My GUESS is that you would need to disable the front door DB from all 3 of the chimes. The 24VA transformer is enough to power both Wyze doorbells.
Q2: You do not have to buy to doorbells. When one is installed, it does not affect the other. But, if you do install a second one, I think your current chimes would be completely bypassed. Again, I can’t say for sure, having just 1 set of chimes.
Q3: Because you can have more than 1 Wyze chime assigned to a single DB, they can each have the same “tune” or a different one. It’s up to you. That also means, if you have 2 doorbells and their own chimes, the front can go ding-dong and the back can go ding.
Q4: I am guessing yes. But, I don’t quote me on that.
Q5: You correct, the existing chimes are bypassed.
Hope this helps. If any other testers had multiple chimes and they see your questions, maybe they can help out.

It’s a weather proof cover

It would be great if they came out with a peephole mount (could be sold separately) that bolted or secure mounted to the back of the doorbell cam to make the mount tamper-proof with a tube to insert into the door with a hole for wire passthrough to a battery pack mounted on the inside-side of the door. If the camera mount is to high in the peephole position, maybe make the mount that angles the camera down 5-10* to still maintain the full body picture. Also add RTSP to add this camera to current security systems.

Please Please Please ADD RTSP. Just like you did on the Wyze Cam

Please Add RTSP!!!

Please add SD card support! This is why the original Wyze cams became popular in the first place. Without them, the average person can’t go back and view recorded events.
There are a lot of cheap video doorbells on the market now, please differentiate yourself and add this much desired feature. I can forgive many shortcoming, in light of the price. But without recordings, I’m not sure this is a worthy release. I might do better to just stick with my original Wyze cam setup and a normal doorbell.
Hint: I would pay extra for this feature.
