Vehicle Rule

Okay. I have two V3s with cam plus on the front of my home. I currently have them set to detect people, pets, and parcels inside their detection zone which omits the main road that runs parallel in front of the property. I want them to also detect when a vehicle enters the driveway. The issue is if I have this enabled after dark if there is a vehicle parked in the driveway and light from another vehicle’s headlights on the main road hit them this creates a false vehicle alert.

My goal is to only have vehicle Detection enabled from 50 minutes after sunrise to 50 before sunset. I have tried creating a rule for this but I can’t seem to get it to work.

Can someone walk me through the steps to get this set up?

You aren’t going to like the answer, but with the V3 cam, you aren’t going to get it to work.

If there is a vehicle within the Included Detection Zone, or even a partial part of that vehicle overlapping into the Included Detection Zone (Wyze’s “Overlap” logic), any time the cam is Motion Activated by pixelation shading changes within the Included DZ (headlights), all objects in the Included Detection Zone, regardless of motion, are subject to tagging. If an object overlaps, the entire object is considered as fair game for tagging.

There are only four ways to keep the vehicle from being tagged:

  1. Park it somewhere else
  2. Adjust the cam so the FOV excludes the vehicle
  3. Turn off Vehicle Detection
  4. Exclude the vehicle in the DZ

Damn. Thanks for the reply. Too bad.

Precisely. This has been a thorn in the sides of MANY users since Vehicle Detection was introduced. There have been many requests to change the AI to tag moving objects only. They have made progress in developing that, the Floodlight Pro has partially implemented this.

Here are some Wishlist requests that cover the issue if you want to vote for them to support the request or post a reply:

Separate Motion Detection (recording trigger) and AI-Detection (notification) zones

Objects in motion (not stationary) notifications only

Detection option based on detecting differences from what is normally in the frame (AI Learning)

Motion Algorithm to Ignore Blowing Leaves/Shadows/Bugs/Snow/Rain/Headlights/Flags

Thanks. Voted on all of them.
