My Robot vacuum’s left wheel stopped working causing it to endlessly circle in place. Has anyone fixed this before? It could be the motor?
I contacted Wyze support but they said they cannot help and don’t sell the parts.
Everything else is working fine so this is quite frustrating.
Thanks

If it isn’t a motor failing, it may be that there is a buildup of hair or string around the drive axle. You may need to do some surgery to get in there and diagnose.
I already checked and no buildup or anything around the drive axle. Just trying to figure out where to look for to fix this.
The Wyze robot vacuum is the same as the Xiaomi stytj02ym.
Most all parts are available at AliExpress.

For some reason the video shows how to replace brushes and the filter. Scroll and the wheels are there.
Thanks for the info! I haven’t opened it up yet but have a feeling that I need to replace the motor, not the wheels.
Each wheel is powered by its own motor. It is an assembly.
I removed the wheel as attached picture. As long as i can find the motor, I should be able to replace it. Does anyone know where to order or part number?
I’ve seen the motors (similar design) in the $10+ range. I recommend replacing as an assembly.
I’m having the same issue almost exactly, only it seemed intermittent at first, but now it’s unusable. I’m going to open it up and see if there is any obvious issue.
I’ll update, possibly with some questions about it and Ali Express, as I’m somewhat familiar with their business model, but I know that they have a reputation that isn’t exactly stellar.
Same problem here. I used the iFixit teardown instructions. It was the left wheel that wasn’t spinning. But it spins freely. I can confirm that it’s not the wheels themselves, as I’ve ordered one and replaced it. Checked all the connections, double checked. It turns on and just spins in circles. Same left wheel.
Anyone actually get this fixed? I’ve spent a fair amount of time and money on a new front wheel, new left wheel, and new battery. Not to mention my perfectionism won’t let me rest.
Would it be possible for you to swap wheels or cables to identify if it is a wheel, cable, or motherboard issue? This is assuming they are electrically compatible. Just have it sit there with the wheels on top free to move.
This is good advice. I’ve done it all, Whole new wheel assembly. I took everything apart, motherboard out to make sure every connection is correct. Twice. I know there’s a motor just beside the left wheel, and it seemed to have some very dark residue around it. When I opened up the vac initially, I noticed that two of the wires on the motor of the wheel had completely come out of the harness. Soldering them back on didn’t work, so bought the new wheel. Anyway, I’m wondering if the wires shorted out that motor.
So then the question becomes, how the heck do two wires just come detached like that? And why should an appliance that had been taken care of and serviced regularly just stop working, and we’re left to eat the cost. We have cameras, the vac, even home monitoring for Wyze. I’ve been really impressed with all our Wyze products, especially the vacuum, until now.
Others have been luckier and re-attaching the wires got it working again. So I guess the motor driver or logic on the mobo might be damaged.
I imagine those wires are subjected to a lot of flexing. I found a different design (below) that goes to $800+ models. Looks like the wires are clipped and routed in a better way. Wires are also directly soldered to the motor board.
I have run across pretty cheap mobo’s on ali, but the firmware won’t be Wyze.
I appreciate all the help. I hate giving up on this vac, but I’m going to have to. It’s frustrating for sure, but the parts were all bought on Amazon, so returnable. Ali didn’t work for me at all. Triggered a fraud alert.
I will say this vac went almost every single day, the whole house. Several of my family and I have asthma, so the ability to clean under beds daily has helped so much.
Got the old DeeBot out of the attic. Absolute crap software and it often just doesn’t start on the schedule. At least both wheels spin.
