I get multiple events of nothing. Last night for example I got an event (Vehicle) EVERY 2-5 minutes and there was absolutely no motion. The car was parked! I have a similar experience often with another pan cam I have. When I click on the event the camera shows no motion nor does it move.
Recognized object tags aren’t necessarily the detected motion. So if a vehicle is in frame, and the event is tagged vehicle, then the AI is working as currently designed. Recognized objects tags can be for things either in motion or stationary. Enable “motion tagging”, which will put a green box around what is being detected as motion to see what is being detected.
This may be a wishlist that you want to support.
So is this only true with the pan cam v3 that shows parked cars?
I dont understand the question. If your vehicle was parked, what else was in frame and moving? any light change or anything? Any events you can post here for a visual aid?
I have this exact thing over and over and over and over all night
I don’t understand your first answer… you said nothing had to be moving. I posted one of the many events and as you can see nothing is moving.
There should be some motion for an event but for the recognized object tags like you indicated in your first post, here:
There should be some motion detected to trigger the event. But the AI object tags (vehicle, person, pet) are added to the event for any thing that is recognized in the event, wither they are moving or are stationary.
Is “motion tagging” enabled? If not. Enable it in your camera settings. There does not appear to be any motion or light change in that video clip. Can you post a screen shot of your event tab showing the event list? Have you contacted Support over this yet?
Okay I understand the trigger thing. Motion tagging is definitely on and has been on and here’s a screen shot.
Anyone?
I will give it a go.
It appears your neighbor across the street has a motion sensor light off and on .
The AI stuff I’ll leave to Omgitstomy.
Is pan scan on? Or is "motion tracking"on? Or is that multiple “front yard cams” all labeled the same?
And yeah it does look like this neighbor does have an exterior light that turns on and off.
Have you tried turning pan, scan and or motion tracking off? Do you still get continual alerts and events? I currently and previously have used pan cams in different areas around the house but have used them as glorified fixed cameras and not used any of the pan or tilt functions like panscan or motion tracking. I find that using multiple fixed cameras to cover a large swath of area proves to be better coverage as you don’t have to put your trust in the tracking or if something happens, you don’t have to worry about the camera scanning a waypoints in an opposite direction as to the event.
In addition to what Omgitstony posted (motion-activated light across the street), something on the left side of your cam’s view is also triggering events. If your cam is mounted inside looking through a window, it’s a reflection of something inside your house. If your cam is mounted outside, someone to the left of the cam’s view appears to also have a motion activated light. From your posted video, note this area:
Video snipped and forward/rewound/repeated for effect:
So in the screen shot I gave you there is, “ONE”, event that the neighbors light goes on. All of the rest of them there is nothing nor is there anything in the hundreds of other events which continue to happen every 3-6 minutes all night long. I’ve tried the camera with track motion on and off, I positioned the camera where it was looking right and barely covered the street. I reduces sensitivity to 30%. Still the same.
That’s lightning and it’s just one event out of hundreds that happen every night.
You asked for an explanation. All we have to go on to help you is what you have posted. Based on your posts, your cam is creating events from multiple on/off light sources. The events are being tagged Vehicle, because there is a vehicle in the frame. I don’t what else to you other than, if I had to deal with your scenarios, I would leave your settings as is (or even increase sensitivity), AI tag everything, but set event notifications to only non-Vehicle AI types (person, pet, etc.) so that your phone/tablet doesn’t swamp you with non-critical alerts. When you review events, filter the events by non-Vehicle AI types to cull out the extraneous events. If you’re concerned about suspicious vehicles, consider installing a fixed/stationary-view cam or point your pan cam at a specific view with pan/scan turned off and position cam such that only the close areas of your property are in view. Then create a detection zone that covers only your property.
You appear to live in an area with large houses and properties. You can’t have a cam covering a broad area of the neighborhood without capturing superfluous events. You need multiple cams. Most of us with large properties install multiple cams outdoors that cover two distinct use cases: broad area and confined, critical areas. For example, install cams that cover the broad, outer boundary of your property and beyond. Capture what you wish for events, but don’t set event motion notifications for these cams. Install a 2nd set of cams that cover inside your boundary like dedicated driveway cam, entry door cam(s), shed cam, pool cam, etc. Set notifications for these cams. When you install these 2nd set of critical cams, don’t put the rest of the neighborhood in view of these cams.
And if you park on the street and enable vehicle event notifications, and even if you park in the same spot and create a detection zone to eliminate everything in that view other than your parking spot, you’ll still receive unwanted vehicle notifications from headlight reflections on your vehicle from passing cars at night.
Sounds like what your saying is this camera is working as designed. I have 3 other cameras at my home this one is at, 4 at my cabin, and 5 at my summer home. Of those cameras 2 are Pan cam V3 and they both record events with no movement however the one at my summer home is not near as bad. NONE of the remaining cameras do this. 99% of the events they record have movement if nothing more than an insect.
Light reflected off the car windows might be doing it. Maybe you should reduce the sensitivity setting.
I tried reducing sensitivity as stated previously and someone else said to increase it. I did however find a remedy but am NOT very happy about it. I reduced my detection zone a little at a time over several days. Of the total area that I feel the camera should cover WITHOUT issue I am down to just under 1/3 of the total and am no longer getting events every couple minutes. UNSAT! I’ve had Wyze cam since the company very first started and have been extremely happy with everything but am not pleased with this.
Hey, don’t feel bad. My Wyze Cam Pan v3 has been doing the same thing lately, no matter what sensitivity I set it on. And even if I try to block out certain areas of the camera view, still doesn’t help.
Along with the fact my camera has been plagued with the IR filter getting stuck (bright pink hue covering 90% of image) – for these reasons, i decided it’s best to just trash it and move on. There are better cameras out there. Unfortunately, this one was not worth all the aggravation it has caused me.
It was my first (and now, last) Wyze product I purchased. And I won’t be buying another one again.
