Is there any way to determine if someone viewed my camera, turned it on or off, or changed settings to not record events? This happened to me before with Blink so I’m pretty weary about things of this nature. I had a microSD card in the camera but didn’t set it to continuous record like I usually do. Would it be in the encrypted microSD card logs anywhere? I read also an old app version had camera access history, is it still buried in the logs somewhere?
While it’s the exception, rather than the rule, it’s not uncommon for some Settings to be modified by firmware or app updates, so it’s possible that is what happened.
Do you share your account login with anyone else?
Do you share devices to another amount (family member, etc)?
No, there won’t be any logs you could access to check this. If it was in a past app version it was before my time which means it’s one of the app versions which no longer work anyway.
A Wyze dev Might be able to find the details in a submitted log, but the devs don’t usually give responses.
If you don’t share your login or devices with any other people, and you are somehow afraid that somebody accessed your account, you can always send an email to security@wyze.com To see if there are any suspicious connections that aren’t yours.
I don’t share anything with anyone. I prefer not to go into detail but someone I know got unauthorized access to my account login information from Blink.
I just checked and there are actually no logs for that period of time on the SD card, is anything ever documented within their web interface? I might give them a call tomorrow.
The only logs I’ve ever seen are when an automation runs it logs that in the app.
So to clarify have you had any issue with the Wyze or are you just looking to keep an eye out due to the previous Blink experience?
Logging into Wyze requires multi-factor authentication so as long as your wyze account has a secure password (which it forces you to have) and your email account is secure, you should be pretty safe. The MFA is required to log into the app, web, even this forum.
Note that if you ever share the camera to a guest account, most stuff can’t be changed but some can, especially if they create an automation, so bear that in mind if you ever do that, it can get confusing (and concerning).
I called Wyze support, they said they weren’t able to help me with anything really. I found another user in the forum who was able to get IP access logs by emailing security@wyze.com but when I sent my own I got an automated response that that email was not monitored. Is security@wyze.com still active? Any other ideas of what I can do? I have already submitted a log from the camera through the app.
Submitting the log doesn’t do anything unless you open a ticket with Wyze support and give them the reference number.
The logs only go back a short amount of time. Are you trying to get information on a specific incident? I don’t think they’re going to provide you with all the raw info as that in and of itself would be a security risk, how do they know you aren’t the person you’re trying to defend against?
This is not a feature of any cloud cams I’m aware of. If you need that sort of security and audit trail you need your own closed circuit system, you can set up all the logging you could ever want then, plus secure it from the outside using VPN access, etc.
