V2 Video Doorbell keeps going offline!

PS: After the power outage and automatic reconnection, we lost connection within hours.

Roy Moore

Now about 6 days since moving the V2 off the ATT WIFI and itā€™s still working well. Iā€™m going to call it fixed. Not sure why there would be an issue with the ATT WIFI, but if you have the ATT fiber box for WIFI, try another router.

Same issue happening to me, connects for a day then goes off line by morning. Yesterday it actually reconnected without powering off not sure how, as I usually have to disconnect it from the wall and completely power it down before reconnecting. Unfortunately it was disconnected again by morning. I send a log into support daily to try and help correct the problem. Iā€™m wondering as someone else mentioned if it is the router. Iā€™m in Vancouver Canada, recently had Rogerā€™s install their new XB8 6e WiFi router. About a week after that the door bell started disconnecting. Running the current firmware 4.51.2.0578

Day five of doorbell staying online. Setup originally was AT&T
Fiber with the White BG series router. It looks to combine the 2.4 and 5 into a single name so I couldnā€™t choose only 2.4. I could log in and turn the five off, but instead I just used a port off the back and installed a net gear nighthawk that breaks out the 2.4 and 5 into seperate wifi host names. Since logging my camera on a 2.4 only router my issue is solved. Now the AT&T router use to never have a problem, but several months back they must of changed a setting in the router FW.

I know Wyze had problems before with the dual SSID but they eventually fixed it. Iā€™m not sure what changed recently, but it does not affect any of my other cameras just the door bell. I think Wyze needs to do a little more work on this since I donā€™t have another router kicking around and likely wonā€™t buy one to fix one camera. Cheaper to buy a different brand door bell cam than a new router.

Agree, I just did my own experiment since I got no response or help from WYZE. All other cameras work fine except pro 2 doorbell. This is happening at three of my properties so I wanted to fix it on my primary residence first. So I would lean to this 2.4 to 5 auto selection bring a problem. I can login to my AT&T and disable the 5, but I am not willing to do that long term. You can do this via the smarthome app in advanced settings

Same issues. Here. Power goes out and the orange flashing lights come on. Super frustrating.

After reading other posts topics for connection issues it seems the common theme is the XB8 6e router. I thing in the USA it is xfinity and in Canada it is Rogers. They combine the 2.4 and 5 SSID It must do some sort of reset after midnight and the doorbell canā€™t re-establish connection. My pan cam did disconnect a couple times after getting the XB8 but has been stable for a few weeks now. Wonder what is different with the door bell that it canā€™t reconnect. None of the other cams or anything else (switches door lock light bulbs) on 2.4 are having this issue. Anyway getting tired of taking this camera off the wall and disconnecting the wires to reset it.

All three properties have been resolved for me for almost a week now. Before I couldnā€™t go 24hrs, my primary residence installed a netgear nighthawk behind the router to only broadcast 2.4. On the other two properties I changed the SSID on my att router for the 2.4 so I didnā€™t have a combined steering broadcast. Issues resolved for now

Thanks for your post, I was able to find an old asus WiFi router for free, and did the same thing you did, and so far two days no disconnect. A lot of work for one device, but at least it working until Wyze fixes this problem.

Hi Jason! The new firmware (4.51.2.0897) put on my V2 may have done the trick! Itā€™s been a few days and the camera is staying connected. It actually disconnected for some reason earlier today but it didnā€™t last long and it reconnected on its own without me! So far, so good! Iā€™m excited and very hopeful that the problem has been taken care of. I thank you for your help and support during all this. Hope this continues to be successful and has also helped others with the same problem. I will continue to update as time goes by!

I donā€™t even see this. Searching the Release Notes & Firmware page, I donā€™t find any firmware with that sequence (ā€œ0897ā€) of digits. The last version I see on that page for Video Doorbell v2 is 4.51.2.0578, and I havenā€™t seen announcements of any Beta firmware versions for Video Doorbell v2 released since then.

The app isnā€™t even offering me version 4.51.2.0578 yet. The update thatā€™s being offered to me is 4.51.2.0379, and I still donā€™t know if itā€™s necessary for me to do a stepwise update to that version in order to see the latest one available, but Iā€™m hesitant to try because I donā€™t want to be stuck on version 4.51.2.0379 and have broken notifications.

I am having the same issue with losing connection

MAC address is 80482c32e6fc

Firmware 4.51.2.0578

Itā€™s very frustratingā€¦ I can ditto previous postā€¦. I delete the device completelyā€¦. Start from scratch and starts online for a while then craps out on the connection flashing orange light of death. HELP

Iā€™m sorry, itā€™s not an official new firmware. Jason called it a test firmware. Maybe Iā€™m a guinea pig for the test firmware.

Oh, gotcha. That makes sense that I wouldnā€™t have seen it noted elsewhere and that you thanked him personally. No apology is needed! Thank you for clearing up my confusion!

Also, thanks for updating this topic with your experience. Iā€™m glad this is working for you! :slightly_smiling_face:

I am having the same issue. Hereā€™s my info:

MAC: 80482C318FD2
Firmware: 4.51.2.0578

Same issue. Wont stay online and have a dedicated 2.4Ghz SSID for it.

MAC: D03F27B70754
Firmware: 4.51.2.0578

17 days, both V2ā€™s still working perfectly! At least in my case, the ATT box was the problem, even with only 2.4 on the SSID

Since using my netgear nighthawk on the backside of my AT&T router for 2.4 only Iā€™ve had no issues dating back to about three weeks. I tried to split my daughterā€™s signal on her AT&T and her doorbell disconnected on the 2.4 only. So something the v2 doorbell and the bg320 router donā€™t mesh.

Update: So far, the test update is working, Jason. Longest time without disconnecting. Very happy! Will update again in a couple of weeks. :slightly_smiling_face:
