The 4.9.4.28 update is taking longer than the app indicates in many cases. I had the same issue with my V2s. I waited 5 - 10 minutes after the upgrade succeeded and/or failed, and the upgrade finally completed on the cameras. Please see the support article below for more information.
Itās been happening to many of us. In my case, the update failed on three of my four V2 cams. All that was required to get them connecting again was to restart them. Turns out that the update was successful on all four despite the āUpdate failed!ā message.
That would be nice except that all of our cameras except one have lost the ability to use SD cards! One by one they had their SD functions die over time. Now, the latest firmware seems to have killed the first camera that was updated. I guess there is no way to salvage this camera. Ugh!!!
Iām going to pull it and see if it will read an SD card just long enough to fix the firmware screw-up.
Well, I had everything pulled down and ready to try a manual firmware install when I decided to leave the camera sit for a while. After reboot #7~10 (I lost count), it finally started working. Maybe SD will start working again at random. If I had to do it again, I would probably flash and if it messed up I would restart the camera a couple of times and then just leave it sit for an hour to stew.
As it stands now, I donāt dare update our remote cameras. Issue after issue with these camerasā¦
This happened to me today. I couldnāt connect to it after the update no matter how many times I restarted it. What I did was to remove the SD card, format it using my PC, inserted it back in and itās now working as expected.
I suspect formatting the SD card was coincidental; as in it was just occupying time. The only thing that helped mine was a few resets and letting the camera sit, powered on, to sort it out and finally connect to the server. The SD card was toast on mine because our cameras have been eating them (wonāt format even with the official SD formatter ā they are dead, dead.)
I just happened to think that perhaps taking the SD card out was enough to push the cameras in the right direction? Thatās one thing our situations have in common⦠we both removed the SD cards. Then again, it could still be a coincidence and the cameras were just going to start working given enough time.
I have 3 Wyze Cams. Purchased December 2018. Nothing but problems. Then was working fairly well for about a month and after the last update all 3 have now failed. I have powered down, restarted and even reinstalled the device and get a blue light. Cannot get a Live Stream. When I restart I can hear the camera clicking so it is responding but no matter what I do, I get, āConnection failed (error code 0)ā. Somehow I was able to get 1 camera to update to 4.9.4.28 but still not working. The others are 4.9.3.64
Iām worn out with this. I need reliability. It isnāt going to happen with this system. These should be pulled off the market.
I updated 3 of my wyze-v2 cams today also, After the update I couldnāt get one to work so I rebooted my router, after about 30min(feeding kids brkfast) I check again and all started to connect via the app. I didnāt have to unplug or reboot them or nothing. Guess I was really lucky.
Rebooting the router also may help others perhaps.
Several reboots & then 3 factory reset and even removing the SD card and Pan still wonāt connect to WiFi after updating to 4.10.3.40. looks like Iāll have to manually flash & see what happens.
I updated all three of my wyze2 cams, 2 of the updates failed,1 updated fine, after several power resets they started working, but lockup and slow to respond most of the time, before update they worked great, wish I had not updated, maybe they will come up with a fix.
I have rebooted mine about 5 times now, still dead. Last update broke the SD reader and the ability to record anything. I am glad I only bought 1 and not the full amount I need.
Iāve attempted to upgrade 2 of them:
1st camera - Upgraded perfectly fine⦠No issues
2nd camera - āUpgrade Failedā⦠Camera wouldnāt respond, no live feed, multiple restarts and nothing. I had to set it up again by pressing the button on the bottom of the camera. It is working again after setting it back up and appears the firmware did in fact upgrade properly.
Iām scared to even attempt a firmware upgrade on the other 2 cameras because they are in locations that arenāt as easy to reach.
Something wrong with the firmware upgrade process?
I was able to just press the setup button on the bottom, and went through setting it back up. I didnāt realize till later it did an update on itās own. I never confirmed an update. Never clicked yes, go, agree, commit, install. 0_o
Out of 6 v2 Wyze cams so far, 3 updated firmware no problems. 2 Said āfirmware update failed.ā The 6th camera is not being firmware updated until we are certain it will go off without a hitch. Of the 2 cameras that said āfirmware update failed,ā 1 has to be in the same room with the WiFi router in order to connect. After trying off the cam it will not restart or turn back on again. Moving it anywhere else the cam fails to connect now. The 2nd āfirmware update failedā cam it will not connect no matter what we do. It says error 90, power cycle camera; restart router, restart the app and try again. Same thing over and over again.
I will attempt to download the earlier firmware and copy it to the root directory of the µSD card to setup the cam again. However, my MacBook Pro just did a black screen on me last week, so now in Appleās infinite wisdom I have nothing but 4 Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports on the new MacBook Pro to work with, I have no card reader to read or write to the µSD card. This should be interesting.
I lost two of my six v2 cameras after the latest firmware update. One has finally, I think, come back. The other works for a few minutes after being reset to defaults and set up, then vanishes again.
