V2 camera has worked well until I tried to do a firmware upgrade which failed a couple times. But finally got it to take. Cam installs and is seen by iOS app but does not show network connection properties. Cam connects to network because it displays picture using the web portal. Have followed all the recommended troubleshooting steps listed by Wyze support. I am thinking the install steps are hung because when I try a factory reset all I get is “Ready to connect” from camera. Also I see a picture of the last time it authenticated to the network. Would like to get rid of the signature on Wyze server for the camera. Only way help files say this can be done is by terminating CAM unlimited. Would appreciate any help or thoughts on how to correct issue.
Delete it from the app, then make sure the factory reset is actually “taking” - it should take a while to complete and not just do “ready to connect” right away. You may need to push hard on the button or use something pointed (but dull) to push it in for 20-30 seconds.
Could have been a bad firmware upgrade even though it appeared to complete so doing the manual SD update process might help too, but try the above first.
UPDATE - Tested setup of both V2 cams on a faster network and they set up via the iOS app without issue. Brought them home and attempts to setup failed. Concluding the issue is due to my slower network and the latest ios App ver (3.2.7.1) is timing out during setup. Thus not authenticating completely and not applying all network data. IE - ip address and wifi domain. I say this because the cam worked fine before the last update of the app. I use a satellite from Viasat due to high speed not available. From the router I can see the cams connected and traffic up & down, and can view picture via web viewer. The newer cams work well and on the V2 cam i am getting two of the three bars displayed on the app. Thoughts?
Interesting, it really shouldn’t need much speed to authenticate and set up. I wonder if viasat is blocking one of the necessary IPs or protocols the cam needs to set up.
If you set it up at the other location using the same wifi name and password (turn on a temporary guest network or something) then bring it home does it work?
- Kept the same name for both cams and connected to the home network. Initially both were displaying, but iOS cam properties showed the offsite network I used. iOS also showed they were both offline and error message showing Network unstable switch to 360P. When i try it only shows it is using SD and HD available no 360P.
- Deleted 1 of the cams from iOS, Logged off iOS and logged back in. Added back with same name and network. Failed install. iOS properties shows off site network I used where it last worked. Neither cam is visible from Web portal like they were before.
- Checked the modem/router setup no blockage I could see. Both cameras show the MAC addresses. Not sure what else to try. Thinking of calling Wyze for support
Same wifi name, not same camera name. Set it up at the offsite location using the same WIFI network (SSID) and password so that it authenticates and is online. If the remote location supports guest networks, you can enable one for that purpose temporarily, or simply change the network name/password there for a bit (assuming that won’t cause too many issues for other people).
Then when you bring it home there is no “offsite network” - as far as the cam knows, it is the same network. IP address may be different but that won’t matter. If it can’t get an IP at home after that, there’s something going on with your wifi or router.
Got it now. Will give it a try and advise. Thanks
If you have access to the Viasat router you can see if there are any settings in there for like “high” firewall security, or blacklists, etc. Those are often to blame for issues like this.
