Just noticed when checking my app version that a new “user experience program” option is in the “about” section and was enabled (opted in) automatically apparently.
If you’re the type that doesn’t like that sort of thing, go in and shut it off. I’m surprised they can default it to enabled when the disclaimer says “by participating you’ve read and agreed to our terms” or something to that effect. I was never prompted with any option to enable/disable or to review any terms.
Thank you dave27. I try to help the Wyze community user experience by participating in this forum, but i like my Apps to the least invasive as possible.
BTW, it looks like turning it Off on one device toggles it Off on other devices logged into your account.
Interesting, I didn’t even look at the device level, I just saw it in the “about” for the app itself. I don’t see it in device settings, maybe because I turned it off at the app level (or maybe you’re using iOS and it is different in that app)?
Edit - by device I meant camera not viewing device - I see now you meant viewing device.
Ah gotcha, I thought you meant turning it off on one cam turns it off on others.
My only other viewing device still runs the 2.5 app which doesn’t have this in it. But good to know it is an account level setting. Actually I haven’t used the 2.5 app in quite a while (to the point where it has logged me out and I’m too lazy to go through logging in). It could be one of those settings that they’re able to make appear without updating the app, but seems unlikely, would have had to have been hiding in there for a long time.
I did log back into the Wyze App 2.50.7 (487) on an old Android tablet. No “Join User Experience Improvement Program” toggle visible, so it must have been added to newer App versions.
BTW, when I powered my iPad Pro up, the toggle was also Off, so it must be a global setting in our accounts using 3.xx App.
Maybe it is more recent on Android but that timeframe is around the same, the last time I went into “about” was a couple weeks ago when there was a notification problem with the OGs and I wanted to post which app I had. Normally I don’t look in there.
If Wyze were larger and had a lot of money (like Facebook or Google or one of the common lawsuit targets) this would probably end up as a class action. But they’re not big enough to make the lawyers drool
It’s been there for a while in the Android version, but I can’t say for certain exactly when I first noticed it, and that may have been in a non-production app. I probably noticed it in the same time frame @habib did (noted as a Beta group member with his profile flair), so it’s possible we just both saw and turned it off around the same time before it graduated to the production platform.
