Tv Cam w Alexa

Anyone know why my cam works thru Alexa on LG tv w firestick, but not on google tv Onn 4 k max? V3 cam.

Without more detail about what you’re using and what you’re experiencing, I don’t know if anyone could answer that question. I just viewed two different Cam Pan v3s (one with firmware 4.50.15.4800 and one with firmware 4.50.16.5654) in Google Home on a Hisense running Google TV (Android TV OS version 11).

Hi. Thanks for the response. I’m running Google tv V14 and Wyze CamV3, running firmware V4.36.16.6114

I can set up firestick, Wyze cam, and Alexa easily.

I’m just not as familiar w my Onn4k Google tv. Need the steps

LG TV 7300.

Let me know what else you may need . Thanks.

Okay, so you’re using (non-Pan) Cam v3. I’m changing your topic’s tag to reflect that and improve community visibility for what you have. I don’t have that, and I don’t know if there are any conflicts between that particular firmware version and any sort of Amazon Alexa or Google Home integration.

I also don’t have any experience trying to view Wyze Cams on Amazon Fire TV or Echo Show devices, but I see Cam live feeds in the Alexa app on my phone and get voice announcements from some Cams on Echo speakers (person and package announcements from video doorbells, etc.).

For the Google TV thing, I think you’d start with the Google Home app on your phone. Have you used that at all? You’d want to create a home in that app and then make sure your devices (both the Google TV and your Wyze Cams) have been added to that home and assigned to “rooms” in that home. This means you’d need to link your Wyze account to your Google Home (in the Google Home app, you’d tap the upper-right icon for your profile, then tap  Home settings in the menu, then tap the Works with Google tile in the Services section, then find Wyze Home and go through the steps to link your account). You’d also need to be logged into your Google account on your TV. If you do this, then you should be able to access the Google TV’s settings and see a tile for Google Home there. That’s where you view the cameras.

Alternatively, if your TV’s remote has a microphone that allows you to talk to Google Assistant, then you should be able to speak to Assistant this way to call for Cams on the TV. In my case, I have a Google Home Mini smart speaker in the same room as my Google TV, and I just ask Google Assistant on that speaker to show me whichever camera I want to see. Because I have assigned both devices (speaker and TV) to the same room in Google Home and because I have set that TV as the “Default TV” for that speaker, Assistant uses that TV when I talk to that speaker.

Also please note that a “room” in Google Home doesn’t have to be a physical room in your house. It can be, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s a collection or group that you assign devices to, so I have “rooms” like “Backyard” and “Front Porch” in my home.

Done that w google home. Took a little. I’ll look at when I get home. Google home is new to me also. I’ve stayed away from all things google for years, because of they’re terrible record for tracking. I have a vpn and other apps to curb tracking. I know it’s impossible to curb all tracking, but I try.

No luck.

Because Amazon would never do anything like that, right? :winking_face_with_tongue:

It’s always some kind of trade-off, and you have to do whatever you’re comfortable with. My first smart home experience was with Google Home, so I’ve tended to integrate things into that ecosystem when I can, and that’s why I know less about using Amazon Alexa. At some point, I might try to dig into Home Assistant more, but I’d really want to see official support for that platform from Wyze before making the leap, I think.

If Google Home isn’t working for you on the Onn TV, then I wonder if it would be possible to side load the Wyze app on the TV. In order to even attempt that, though, you’d need to make sure the TV is running a 64-bit version of Android 10 or later.

I guess you could also get another Fire TV Stick for that TV, or maybe just try screen mirroring or casting from your phone to that TV, but if that TV runs some version of Google Home and you’re able to add that TV to your home in the Google Home app on your phone or tablet, then that’s probably going to be the easiest way to view your Wyze Cams’ streams on it in some kind of “native” fashion.

Something else you could potentially try: On my Google TV, I see  Settings âžś System âžś Advanced System âžś Amazon Alexa Service when poking around. I’ve known for a while that the TV has some kind of built-in Alexa integration, but I haven’t ever bothered to set it up, because I’m already using the Google Home integration for some TV control. I don’t know if your Onn Google TV has something similar or what Alexa features it allows the TV to run, but that’s something else you could look for and see if it allows you to view Cams that way without running them through Google Home.

Touché about tracking. Being 71 sometimes I can’t express myself the way I want. Came out wrong. Of course Amazon tracks. I just try and use every filter, vpn, password mgrs, incogni, duck duck go etc. Bottom line got it working, though not thru voice control, no settings in advanced system for Alexa. Cam works, cuts out a lot. But thank you for your patience and understanding that Sr moments can bring me:flushed_face::joy:!

What could share about what you did that might help others in the future? What did you do to get it working?

You’re welcome! I’m glad you were able to find some success somehow. :+1:
