I had no problems selecting a different mic or speakers with Ms Teams.
I was able to flash the webcam firmware and get one Windows 10 PC to recognize it as an “HD USB Camera” and display video in Zoom. However, on a second Windows 10 PC, the computer sees the “HD USB Camera” in the devices window but video conferencing apps (Zoom and Skype) can’t get a feed. It does not even show as an option in the list of available cameras. Are there drivers for the “HD USB Camera?”
Wyze would sell a million of these with different lenses more attuned to webcam usage with a narrower field of view.
I am convinced that there are some V2 cameras that cannot be updated. I have tried on mine many many times, with many different SD cards, all 32gb or under as well as a 128gb one for fun. All formatted to FAT32. There is no blue light EVER. No purple light as some have described. No yellow and blue light on at the same time. There is after almost 12 seconds a quick blue flash. Whether I hold the SETUP button for 2,3,4,5,6,7,8-12 seconds and let go it will just flash yellow endlessly. If it ever stops flashing, the firmware is not updated at all.
I’m hoping for this as well would love to able to move about my office
I have two more shots in the dark here about cameras failing to flash the webcam firmware.
Short version of Idea 1 - if it’s possible that the SD card you are using is partitioned, delete all but one partition, copy the firmware to it and try again.
Long version of Idea 1 -
On my fourth (or fifth, or…) try, I had copied the firmware file to a SD card and things didn’t work. I put the card back in my computer and looked more closely at were it was and it appeared to be on a 30 or so megabyte card. The card was a 32 gigabyte card and I just didn’t notice that difference at first.
Then I had to scratch my head about why that could be. I inspected the card using a disk management tool and woha! there were three partitions on it. I had just grabbed the nearest SD card without thinking. It turns out, I had formatted this one to work with a Raspberri Pi, Which needs multiple partitions,
So maybe the Wyze Cam didn’t recognize the partition I had put the firmware on, or won’t work at all with partitioned cards. When I delete all but one partition, copied the firmware again and tried flashing… success!
Short version of Idea 2 - If you have ‘hide file extensions’ or something similar set in your OS, disable that setting and make sure the firmware file is named “demo.bin” and not “demo.bin.bin”
Longer version of Idea 2 -
The instructions for the process tell us to rename the firmware file “demo.bin”. For me, in the zip file I downloaded, the file was already name demo.bin. I think the file viewers for most Operating Systems default to hiding file extensions. (When ever I install a new OS, I habitually disable this setting so that I can see the extension of all files.) It is perhaps possible that some people have “hide file extensions” enabled and for them the file seemed to named “demo”. Renaming it “demo.bin” could perhaps result in the file being named “demo.bin.bin” which is not likely to work. Maybe the OS would alert you in this case?
I wish you all good luck!
I had the same issue and just tried different cards, all FAT formatted and eventually an old 16GB one worked.
Mine flashed OK, but doesn’t work (it did for about an hour), but now nothing recognises the camera and in Device Manager it says “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)”… anyone had the same issue?
Did you have to do anything for the Teams background effects to work? I do not get the option when using the cam for a Teams meeting.
Are you using Teams installed app or Teams web version? You don’t get the ‘background’ choice on the web / browser version.
No, the webcam firmware is only available for the V2 and Pan.
How do I find the desktop version? When I try to download the app there is no change in how Teams looks or the options.
thanks

You will only see the option to change a background while you are in an active meeting.
That is the thing. I looked for the slider to change the background to blur and it wasn’t there while I was in a meeting.

Thanks for the help. I am not getting those options. Are you using the wyze cam? I am just trying to see where my issue is. With the Wyze cam or something with Teams.
thanks
Brian L Shroyer
It’s not the Wyze cam. It’s your install of Teams. Perhaps it hasn’t been updated to include this feature yet.
Thank you very much! I am still having issues. Apple has said that software many times will be recognized for the software it was made for and that software only which is why my C-Port is not recognizing it through my USB adapter.
What model computer and what version of macOS are you running? What is the brand and model of the USB adapter you are using?
macOSCatalina Version 10.15.4.
It’s an Apple C-Port adapter.
