I have installed two new Window Cams. Both are randomly making a ding ding or chirp chirp sound coming from the device. This is not on the recording. I have MicroSD Cards in both. It is recording video. I have factory reset the devices. I have removed and reinserted the cards. I have also reformated the cards. The cards are PNY 256GB Elite-X Class 10 U3 V30 microSD Flash Memory Card. If I turn off SD Card, the noise doesn’t happen.

I have not seen other reports of this, and when I began reading your post my first thought was that you may have had two-way audio enabled at the time and so you were hearing sound from the Cam that originated at your phone. Your mention of being able to stop the noise by disabling microSD card recording seems to indicate that it’s not a two-way audio thing, though. That’s weird.
What did Support say when you contacted them?
I need to eject the SD Cards and format them in a computer to make sure it is exFAT. More to come.
Are you hearing the chime sound that the camera makes when it’s powered on and you insert a microSD card? Some Cams make a double chime sound when inserting the card, and when I tried this with Window Cam a few minutes ago I heard a “ding-dong” sound. Is it anything like that?
I wonder if there’s a problem with your microSD cards and if trying different cards would make a difference. While I think the in-camera format is usually sufficient with a good quality card, some users swear by the SD Memory Card Formatter, and I’ve occasionally used that, as well, especially if I think I might have a card problem that I think this tool might “refresh” with a full --overwrite format.
If formatting your cards doesn’t resolve this problem, then I’d be inclined to try different cards and wouldn’t hesitate to submit a log (or logs) from the app and then follow that up with a Wyze Support ticket referencing the Log IDs. If your cards are felt to be good (format and work in other devices as expected, etc.), then I’d wonder if there’s an issue with the readers in the Cams.
This is my hypothesis
I agree. It sounds to me like the camera is repeatedly recognizing the SD card, and then losing recognition of the card, and then it comes back online again. This would explain the repeated beeping every time it recognizes the card freshly again. Swapping out the SD card, with a different card should help to tell you if the issue is with the SD card itself, or with the cameras SD card reader.
If it turns out that the SD card is fine, but the SD card reader in the camera seems to be the problem, something you could potentially try is to reset the camera back to factory settings and set it up again from scratch. Sometimes that will force everything back into a a functioning State. If that doesn’t work, your last prayer would be to flash the firmware back to a previous version and see if that fixes it. Otherwise, I would be inclined to think that the SD card reader in the camera is malfunctioning.
Thanks for all the comments. If anyone else randomly hears a chime or sing that the cam makes when you have inserted a SD Card, the format is wrong. You need to format the card on a PC to exFAT. After doing that, the problem went away.
I’m glad you got this working, and I appreciate your taking the time to post an update! ![]()
So far I’ve tried only a 32 GB in Window Cam, so I wonder if it has an issue with internally formatting larger cards. That might be something to look into. ![]()
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking.
I haven’t yet seen any flashable firmware made available for download with Window Cam. Since it seems to be based on Cam OG and Wyze hasn’t posted any Cam OG firmware download links (at least to my knowledge), I wonder if this will ever be an option for this model.
