Wyze Window Cam makes chime sounds if microSD card installed

I have two new Wyze Window Cams. They work great, but if a microSD card is installed, then the cameras will randomly chime (“ding dong”) about once every 5-10 minutes. (Sometimes it can go an hour or two… IT seems random.)

This appears to be an issue with the microSD card, since the chime sounds go away as soon as I eject the cards.

I’ve tried two different brand microSD cards. One SanDisk and another brand… both 128GB size.

I’ve tried rebooting.

I’ve tried factory reset.

I’ve updated to the latest firmware.

I’ve tried reformatting the cards both in the camera (iOS) and externally via Windows 11’s disk (Formatted as exFAT, due to the size)

No matter what I do, the Wyze Window Cams will start to “ding dong” chime randomly after about 24hrs of run time with cards installed.

This is the same issue as discussed here: There is an audible noise (chirp or ding) randomly coming from the Wyze Window Cam without an error code:

I wonder if there’s a physical tolerance issue with the Cams, like maybe the card slot/reader/writer has an issue where it periodically disengages/re-engages with the cards, making the Cam “think” that a card has been inserted when it makes contact again. I’m really just speculating with that, though. :man_shrugging:

What has Wyze Support said when you contacted them?

I am having this exact same issue and completed the same troubleshooting steps! Looks like I am going to have to call support after all :face_with_spiral_eyes:

In case it helps, I managed to fix my beeping by replacing the SD cards.

I did some online digging and ordered “GIGASTONE” brand 64GB Micro SD cards from Amazon (link Amazon.com )

It’s been about 4 days and no beeping from the Wyze Cams. So, it seems that their cameras just don’t like certain manufacturers or maybe they don’t like the larger size memory cards? Try swapping out the cards and maybe you’ll have the same luck as I did!
