I used to love my vacuum. It was great in the beginning. I had to renew the mapping due to changes in the house. The vacuum gets lost under the couch. I finally give up and drag it out. It goes right back under the couch and get lost. It just turns in circles. I drag it out and block it from going back in there.
It then goes to the bedroom. The bedroom has a treadmill. The treadmill is folded up because it will get lost or stuck under it. The vacuum attemps to go past the base since it can see over the base of the treadmill. It bumps left backs up, straight back up, right and back up. It does this none stop. I finally block the area.
It then backs back to the bathroom, looks around, returns to the area of the treadmill. Looks around. It does this until it times out and stops , err ah, completes the mapping. The rest of the house is not mapped.
I’d like the original version software the robot used put back on the robot. The vacuum is unusable now. I’m ready to start making ticktock videos showing how bad this expensive vacuum is.
I find it works better to put up things, like cardboard, to block it ahead of the initial mapping. Then add the no-go zones and get a more precise map during a full clean.
To reduce the time it takes, close some doors/block-off areas. Then you can add some no-go zones to direct it back to a specific room/area with a full clean. Full clean is the only way to update an existing map so it helps to reduce how much work it needs to do so you don’t have to wait as long for it to get back to the dock and save the map.
So, I have my map setup. I didn’t run it over the weekend due to company. I opened the app only to discover my map missing the room names and no go zones.
I decided to just start over by marking the no go zones. When I tried, I received the message:
Vacuum is not using this map now. Please select this map list in the map list before adding no go zones.
I can’t find a map list, other than the layers icon on the same page. I only have the one map listed. Help please from a very frustrated user.
I think you are on a temporary map which is why it is missing the room names. This occurs when it was unable to match the current environment to a saved map (layer) when it last ran. IIRC it should say something when this happens.
I have two layers so I just switch layers to get back to my saved map. Have you tried turning it off and back on, maybe it will load the proper saved map?
Otherwise take it to a small room (close the door) and create a new layer so you have a way to reload your main layer by swapping between the small room layer and your main one.
One of my main tips when it comes to the saved map…
Turning off the vacuum caused the real map to pop back up. Nasty bug. I sure hope these issues are fixed. I liked this vacuum so much I purchased more and gave them as gifts. I’m sure my parents would retire the unit if these issues popped up. The last 20 months have been great…well 19 months
