I wish i would have NEVER bought any Wyze products ever! They absolutely are the worst! You could never depend on these for anything. These are a toy at best. Be ready for much much much much much much much frustration and anger.
FOR AT LEAST THE 5TH FING TIME THEY HAVE BROKE MY FLOODLIGHT CAM! I’M SO SICK OF THIS ISH!
THEY KEEP TAKING MY ABILITY AWAY TO CONTROL FLOODLIGHT AND I HAVE TO DELETE THE CAM AND CLIMB UP A LADDER AND REINSTALL THE FREAKING CAM EVERY DAM TIME! I’M SO SICK OF THIS COMPANY. I HATE THEM WITH A BURNING PASSION AND HONESTLY WISH THEY WOULD ALL DISAPPEAR LIKE THEY KEEP DOING TO MY FLOODLIGHT CONTROLS!
NEVER BUY FROM THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY AND I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT EVER AGAIN. I WISH I HAD NEVER BOUGHT ANYTHING FROM THIS STUPID FREAKING COMPANY!
PLEASE JUST JUMP OFF A CLIFF AND GO AWAY!
DID I MENTION I HATE HATE HATE HATE WYZE!
First, to be clear, I am just a customer too (I don’t work for or represent Wyze), and I have devices from several other companies as well, so I understand using other things instead.
The reason I am posting is because I was just thinking that since you clearly are interested in ditching Wyze, you might consider posting your floodlight for sale somewhere like eBay and using the money to buy something that would be more satisfying for your needs. Since Wyze devices are already sold at close to cost, with little to no profit margin, they actually resell for a really good price, so you can probably get a lot back for it. Obviously, I’d first make sure to get it working again, then post it up for sale, then you can use that money to switch to a different product so you are more satisfied.
I saw a single used Wyze Floodlight v1 on ebay sell for $82.05 on Dec 28th. A lot of them are closer to $50. A used Floodlight Pro just sold for $132 yesterday.
A lot of people don’t realize that used Wyze devices often resell for closer to what you bought them for than most used electronics go for, so you can often get pretty close to most of your money back for them and then move on to something else that better suits what you’re looking for. Just thought I’d mention it in case it is something you’d like to consider so your life is less stressful.
Again, just trying to be helpful. No worries if you’re not interested.
Selling it at cost has nothing to do with them forcing UNWANTED firmware updates that break what was working PERFECTLY
I JUST WANT THEM TO LEAVE MY FING FLOODLIGHT CAM ALONE!
If it’s working fine and then they break it and i have to reinstall it and this keeps happening and not only to me, that is just bs
I pay for a year at a time for a service that is so unreliable it should be free. If they would just leave ish alone it would be FINE
But they just keep messing it up and I’m left to fix it.
And yes this was most likely the straw that broke my back. I had so much invested in the Wyze eco system, u didn’t want to give up. But now… yep. Time to find A REAL COMPANY and not this JOKE…
The product cost being cheap has NOTHING to do with this problem. It’s their inability to leave ish alone that’s the real issue.
If you want 2 v2 pan cams, 3 v3 cams and a floodlight cam? They will be on ebay soon enough.
F this company!
They know well about this problem. It’s all over the forums here. They just choose to ignore it. And hey if they break it, they can always try to sell you the floodlight v2… what a great business model. Sell product, break product with firmware, do nothing, then try to trick you into buying the newer more expensive model… what a SCAM!..I tell everybody i see to AVOID WYZE LIKE THE PLAGUE…i wish i had… better to pay more for something that REALLY WORKS. Than to buy these toys that I’m supposed to be grateful because they SOMETIMES work for A LITTLE WHILE before they break again… well i guess my standards are just a bit higher. I expect the company to ACTUALLY be able to sell product that does what they advertised. And i absolutely expect a company to sell RELIABLE products and services.
I hope you get a kickback from Wyze for defending their crappy products. Because they should be paying you if you are going to work so hard to defend this joke of a company.
I didn’t think I defended Wyze at all in my response. I reread it and I still don’t see that. On the contrary, I provided suggestions to help you be able to leave as you implied was your desire, My only motive was to be helpful to you in finding a way you could be happier, and if you would be happier leaving Wyze, I am happy to help you find a good way to meet your goal. That’s it. It was for your benefit, not Wyze’s. If I was a Wyze customer support employee I would probably be expected to try to convince you, a paying customer, to stay. But I don’t work for or represent Wyze (they certainly wouldn’t pay me to help dissatisfied people switch to another company), and I do call them out and criticize where I believe it is warranted as demonstrated here: Wyze has lost it way - #23 by carverofchoice I even talked to them about the annoying firmware updates in that post like you are talking about here. So I haven’t disagreed with you on that and I told them how these firmware updates are frustrating people since they don’t feel like there are continual improvements like the early days.
Seriously, I only wish you the best, hoping that you can find something that better suits your needs and happiness. As I said, I use other companies’ products too. I am not downplaying your experience nor your frustration, and I currently have not said anything to defend Wyze in this thread. I have only given ideas on how to help you transition away without you losing everything you’ve invested into it. I just like helping people and do so in cracks of time in between working. That was my only objective in posting to you in that previous comment.
I just received my FloodLight cam v2 model. I’m right there with you. I definitely should send it back. It hardly works. I watch in screen as it picks me up walking In front of camera and not notification, no recording. No warning notice from camera. These settings are all on and it’s a crapshoot when it works. I have 5 or 6 other wyze cameras and they all do what they are supposed to to. This is my first floodlight and it will be my last. I am extremely disappointed with this thing. Spent hours on the phone trying to get it setup. Had a router 6 feet away and it would never connect. I connected to another router I have which has a very weak signal and connected to that one, then disconnected and then was able to connect to the one 6 feet away.
My anger is at Wyze.
Not you.
I do think they should be paying you for trying to help them calm down angry customers.
It’s nice you care but it’s not your job.
Because you are doing such a good job of trying to help angry customers calm down…
Then they should be paying you.
This is not an insult to you. Just a dig at Wyze and how they are more a constant source of frustration. And that they need their customers to be a buffer for them. Rather than address and fix their issues.
You are welcome to believe you didn’t defend them.
Just as i am to believe that the fact you decided to get involved on their behalf at all is the very definition of defending them imo.
Isn’t great to be able to have and express differing opinions? I think so.
Since buying into this company, it seems there’s a new problem every few weeks or sooner and you can be sure you will be the one wasting your time and energy fixing problems they keep creating.
From detecting correctly and consistently to missing recording events. To controls disappearing. To cams disconnecting to nothing in pic that triggers it to notify you. Maybe smart AI will ignore your car in your drive fine for a while then all of a sudden it keeps now triggering your recording even though it should not. Maybe it will see your car now as a package. Even though nothing changed. Be sure your detection zone will never be consistently blocked where you want and trigger where you want i literally could go on and on and on and on. I think being angry at Wyze and expecting a level of professionalism from this company is not too much. Holding them accountable rather than giving up and just selling everything because it’s too much to expect more out of Wyze is certainly one way to go, i guess. But expecting a company to be able to live up to the promises they sold me on, is also not out of bounds.
I think you will see I’m not alone in my anger with Wyze. But again, it’s not your job to make me feel better on behalf of Wyze. But if you are, i think you should be paid. But this isn’t an insult to you but to Wyze
For what it’s worth, it seems floodlight cams are more technically challenging to design than other cloud cam products.
A week ago I bought a Ring Floodlight Cam Plus and it likes to go offline during the middle of the night. Out of the 7 days it has been installed, I’ve woken up 3 or 4 mornings to find that it went offline at some point during the night and did not come back online. One of those times I went up to the cam, waved my hand in front of the motion sensor and the floodlights turned on and the cam came back online. Then 5 minutes later it went offline again…
This morning it was offline once again. At some point it went back online on its own but when it did the floodlights turned on and stayed on until I went into the app and toggled the lights off. A few minutes later the thing was offline again.
During this time my Wyze cams and other Ring cams did not experience any issues.
I’m not sure why sticking a light onto a camera suddenly causes the entire thing to become useless but apparently floodlight cams are a problem.
