The Best Sound in the World: Wyze Cordless Vacuum Preorder - 6/1/21

Am I right to assume that the comparison is to a Dyson cordless? If it cleans/lasts like the Dyson, I’m in for $119…
I’m going to now weigh my Dyson (with and w/o attachments)
Just the handle (motor, canister), 2 lbs 14 3/8 oz (almost 3 lbs).
Handle (as above) plus long tube (no attachment), 3 lbs 9 1/4 oz.
With power brush attachment, 5 lb 4 oz
So, dearest Gwen, what are we comparing for weight here. Is it the latter to the Wyze?
Also, will it run w/o the HEPA filter?
Informed (cheap) consumers want to know…

Q. My daughter and I have long hair and it gets wound around the brush of our current vacuum. Once a month, I have to unscrew the bottom chamber of the vac and remove the brush and clean all of the hair off of the brush. With the new Wyze vac, will I have that same issue? Will the hair get wound around the floor brush? Is it easy to remove the floor brush from the vacuum for cleaning or will I have to unscrew and remove a lid/cover to get to the floor brush? Any thoughts on creating a brush that will not get hair tangled around it while vacuuming?

I understand this vacuum has a HEPA filter but is it a sealed system? Does it pass the smoke test?

I might have missed it, but is there a filter at all? If there is, what’s the filtration efficiency?

Some of us have allergies. While it might be picking up allergens off the floor, getting the same allergens airborne is an even worse situation.

I pleaded in this forum for Wyze to incorporate Shark’s hair cutting feature. It doesn’t sound as if they have?

Wyze doesn’t do hardware. By the time they get their hands on a unit, the assembly line is already churning. You know that.

Wyze is essentially a, VAR.

If this is pre-order now, and shipping next month, then a user manual should be completed already. I would think that posting a PDF of the manual would save a lot of back and forth questions.

We have no carpets, and many dogs. I see this brush head as useless, except for getting clogged with pet hair. Can it be removed? Is there a switch to turn it off?

Jdennisg, My Dyson has two power heads, One for carpet and one for hard floors. I hope they come out with a second one for hard floors. But they do say you can use it on hard floors.

Product looks great, I’m excited to get mine. I do think Wyze should consider a longer warranty. It seems most competitors for this product have a 5-10 year warranty.

Is there any comparison of how this vacuum holds up to other similar vacuums? For example the Dyson D7? I know it is rated at 150AW at its max setting, but what is the rating at the lower settings? The problem I am having is locating this information for this vacuum or any other, but usually I run my Dyson at the lower setting. I would like to order one of these as the Dyson is getting old and it would also be nice to have one on each floor but it would be nice to see how it compares to some of the other vacuums available. I understand there is a huge price difference but I would rather pay more money for something that makes my life easier than less money for something that doesn’t really work and causes more work.

If you don’t need it now, wait and see how people like it when they get them. If they sell it on Amazon like the rest of their stuff, you can get reviews there. I have a Dyson V7 and I am in the same boat as you. But I did replace my battery on the V7 so it should still run for a while, so no rush for me.
One thing I learned about Wyze is when new stuff comes out, we are like beta testers. But in the long run, they do work the bugs out of them, but I don’t know if firmware upgrade will be available for this vacuum. So it is better to wait.

Vacs.pdf (117.1 KB)

Did a Vacwars format comparo with the V8 Animal (due to similar power and attachments) and the Tineco A11 Hero (ditto similarities). Hopefully this will help.

That’s all well and good for your use case, but I’m with Mrxindowntown on this, the handheld and cordless should have been released at the same time, or at least announced together. This instead feels like a bait for more sales. As someone with a limited budget, the cordless would be a much better choice than having both.

If I knew the cordless was going to be released, I never would have bought the handheld because the cordless is better for what I actually need. Now I have a new in box handheld variant that I already want to replace before it has picked up a single crumb. Very disappointing.

Thank you for this. I didn’t realize there was a vibrant vacuum reviewing community on the Internet… but of course there is.
They call the only essential feature “active hair removal” but don’t seem to let me sort/search by it. At least I found a few articles like this one, and apparently Shark is not the only brand with this mandatory feature…

Handheld vacuum is perfect to vacuum floor mats and seats in your car. No need to drag larger vacuum.
Well worth $80

$80 Handheld suction power (runtime ~10 minutes): 16,800 PA in max power mode
$120 Cordless suction power: (runtime ~10 minutes): 24,000 PA in max power mode

$550 Dyson V10 has a runtime of ~8 minutes with same suction of 150 Air Watts as Wyze,
For $120 it’s no brainer, but yes, ~10 minutes is limited to the battery capacity of 2000 mAh. With typical lithium-ion battery chemistry, within 6 months of use, runtime will drop to ~8 minutes on a good day.

Oh, I’m not saying the Wyze vacuum isn’t a good value or not for the price. I’m just saying that the runtime less than 10 minutes (real world) on high isn’t long enough for me probably with any cordless, including the Dyson. I initially watched the Wyze promotional video and just heard 50 minutes in that and also saw that highlighted on the sales page which sounded great. The fact that 50 minutes was only on echo wasn’t as nearly apparent at first glance.

I have a Dyson and never use the “high” speed. There are two speeds on mine I just use the lower one. One good thing about the the new Wyze vacuum is you can just slap on a second battery. (optional) With the Dyson, your sunk until it recharges and if the battery is hot ( you just went from 100 to zero) you have to wait to charge it.
I don’t have real big house, its a 2100 SF single story house, Using the normal speed with the Dyson allows me to do the entire house. I would think with the new Wyze if I used the medium speed, I could do the same.
I just don’t need one right now.
