On my wyze cam v3 I used to be able to quickly click the skip 30 seconds to scroll through the timeline quickly. After an update a few months ago it’s very slow and it has a pause each time you click the 30 second skip. Also if you are zoomed in when you click the skip 30 button it zooms back out. I don’t think it did that before either.
The interface was changed for the v3 a while back, is that when it got slow? I don’t have any v3s, the 30 second skip (and event skip) works as it always did on my other cams though. I’m assuming you’re watching off the SD card, you could also try formatting the card (preferably using the formatter from sdcard.org and let it do the full overwrite format), maybe the file system on the card is corrupted?
I did hear someone else mention the zoom out thing, pretty sure all the cams I have have always done that, so I guess that was something the old v3 interface had that others didn’t.
Another great thing about it is now the 30 second skip is directly on top of the video. So you have to cover the video up with your finger in order to advance the video. Whomever did the redesign really goofed up IMO. As far as speed is concerned, it is FAR better now than when v3.x first came out. With that said, it is still not nearly as good as the old 2x UI that NOBODY (outside of WYZE) complained about.
Well previously the timeline was on top of the video (at least in portrait mode). I kinda preferred that actually. That was how my Panv3s were originally.
It’s a catch 22, in landscape mode I want the video full screen so the buttons on it allow that, but they block stuff out and your fingers get in the way as you say.
Personally I hate navigating pretty much anything on my phone so I’m not sure I’d like any interface really. Guess I need to invest in a tablet (and I’m long overdue to accept the fact that I need reading glasses too).
I figured out that it happened around the December 15th, 2025 3.9 release date on android. That made the v3 cameras not work at all without updating the cameras as well. On my v2 cameras I can still click the skip 30 seconds very quickly with the most recent app update. It’s just the v3 and the v3 pan that is very slow when clicking skip 30.
I wish wyze would make it easy like the Google nest cams to scrub through past video quickly.
Odd, my Panv3 and Camv4 (which have pretty much identical interfaces and bugs now), the 30 second skip works fine on those, but my OGs can have delays with various navigation features on the SD card.
I don’t think you confirmed if you’re talking about SD card video? Did you try formatting the SD cards as previously mentioned (preferably using the sdcard.org formatter)?
Can you you tap, tap tap, tap very quickly and scroll back through your playback video? It use to be instant and you could skim through the video quickly. Now when I click skip 30 there is a slight pause and it takes forever to scrub through 30 minutes of video. I can still do it quickly on the v2 cameras but not the v3.
It seems fine to me and nearly instant (and I’m even looping through wyze servers, not on my home network). But maybe I just never did that much so haven’t noticed that it is a bit different now. I usually use the event skip arrows or just navigate to an approximate spot on the timeline, then skip forward and back from there as needed.
I will say I’ve never tried to review a really long period of time (say 10 mins or more) using 30 second skip so maybe it just isn’t apparent to me. Probably 2 or 3 minutes is max for the way I review stuff.
I would still recommend doing a refresh format on at least one SD card using that utility I mentioned in a PC. I know my dash cams I have to do that once a year or so as they just get very cluttered with lots of small files and it will start reporting errors recording. A power loss or unsafe shut down can cause minor file system corruption that can make everything slow down.
Thanks for replying. I will reformat the card and see if there is any difference. Part of my problem is I have a large tree in my front yard that always sets of the motion detection no matter how much I adjust sensitivity or blocking the branches etc. It then misses when packages etc. are delivered so sometimes I like to quickly scrub through the video
You typically have to set the detection zone to block out a bit more than you’d expect. If you turn on motion tagging (green box) you have to block out anywhere the green box shows, which might be a block more than where the branches are.
Keep in mind you can use the arrows to skip event to event too, but obviously if you’re trying to see stuff between events, that doesn’t help. But the detection zone and maybe adjusting camera angle helps a ton.

I feel your pain as I dealt with this issue for what seemed like years, maybe it was. In any case, I am not sure exactly when it was fixed, but all is well now. I am curious, are you running the latest greatest firmware and app?
I have the latest firmware on my v3 cams and most current app on my android device. My 30-second skip/FF has very little lag and its use is acceptable.
I don’t have a regular v3 (though do have Panv3 and Camv4) so I can’t compare, maybe what I’ve always seen as normal is laggy.
Of course it would be nice to have an NVR with one of the stations with the knobs for reviewing video, but if my neighborhood gets that bad, I’ll just move.
It does seem like a lot of the “fixes” and new features have actually made stuff worse. I suppose I could downgrade my firmwares and drop back to the 2.5 app or an early 3.x one but I suspect they’ll start enforcing the new security soon (if not already) so that’s not really practical. I do still use the 2.5 app if I need to review a lot of SD card footage on my OGs as that is much faster with those.
