I recently changed my wifi and rendered my SP1 Commercial Electric plugs into the dustbin with their wonky software.
I have 9 Wyze plugs but i relegated to second class because i kept losing connection with my old wifi.
Before i buy Kasa plugs a few questions…
What is your opinion of the Wyze plugs?
How do you find their connectivity reliability?
Amp handling? A few will be powering the garage door openers.
Security?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLIES
I don’t have any of the newer Plugs (unless you count Plug Outdoors, which I also own and like), but the original “v1” Plug was my introduction to the Wyze ecosystem in 2019, and I’ve generally had good results with those. I even used one of them for quite a while to control power to a washer because that made power cycling easier, and I was within the amperage limits for that. I haven’t used one for a garage door opener. (I use a Tapo—Kasa cousin—smart plug to control power to a myQ hub in the garage because it likes to flake in the summer heat and occasionally needs a power cycle as a result, and the only reason it’s a Tapo is because that’s what I had on hand and available for use at the time, as my Wyze Plugs were all doing other things.)
Wyze Plugs (and Plug Outdoors) are also useful as work-arounds for linking Automations to and from third-party systems (Google Home, Amazon Alexa, IFTTT, etc.) to overcome limitations of the “official” integrations, so I should probably try to pick up some more at some point.
