I replaced a “dumb” motion light with a Cam Floodlight v2 but I can’t figure out how to set it up the way I need it. It’s in my backyard and I want the light to turn on when a person is detected and then turn off after a few minutes. I am using Cam Plus for people detection. I also set a detection zone because there is a walking path in camera range that I don’t want to trigger the light.
I set up an automation to turn the light on. But how do I get it to turn off again automatically when there is no person detected?
This is one item in the wishlist, to add an action to turn on the floodlight for xx minutes". The original floodlight has that action, but the V2 and pro floodlights don’t.
I also have the FLv2 and an automation to turn on for x-time range. I have a detection zone and CPU set for Person and Pet. My FLv2 triggers with the detections and turn off automatically after what appears to be a 20 - 30 second time lapse. Do you have the Motion toggle on or did you leave it off? It should be on. I would like a setting selection that leaves the lights on for a minute before turning off but what I have now works ok for me.
@Blahbleorg - I need to correct my previous post, follow the screenshots included.
This should resolve your issue and mine mistakenly. I had forgotten how to access this feature.
I use that floodlight setting to set the time the floodlight stays on whenever there’s motion: not necessarily when it detects a person, as the OP wants. Did I misread the OP?
No, you did not. He needs to check person detection under smart detections activation, assuming he has CP+ or CPU. If not, he won’t be successful since either is needed for the person detection. An automation or Alexa routine will not help without a subscription. Otherwise he is limited to generic all-inclusive motion.
Thanks y’all. The suggestion was correct to use the device settings > Floodlight Settings > Motion and customize smart detection to enable the floodlights for people. My mistake was trying to set it up as an automation, which turned the lights on, but there wasn’t a way to use an automation to turn the lights off later.

You’re wekcome. Happy the Forum could help resolve your floodlight issue and needs.
I don’t think the “Lights Off Timer” is related to AI object detection. I have several floodlight V2s and pros, and all set up for persons, vehicles, and pets. But the light turns on for any movement nonetheless.
An inherent flaw with the FLv2. Without motion toggled on, it does not play well and will not turn on for smart detection events only. The main reason I setup and use a Wyze smart plug for an automation as a bridge for an Alexa routine that announces on my echo a customized announcement for person, vehicle or pet. All 3 can be combined into a single announcement, but if preferred as I do and did, separate bridges and Alexa routine announcements specific for each event.
Correction on my post above:
No bridge for person detection announcement fro Alexa. It is native to the Wyzey/Alexa AI process with CP, CP+ and CPU. Seems I have a habit once-in-awhile of getting ahead of my thoughts on the Forum. Must do better. It is package detection that is my other bridge for Alexa.
