Setting Cameras Up on AT&T Fiber

Recently switched Internet providers from cable to ATT fiber. Apparently, ATT doesn’t separate the 2.4 gHz & 5.0 gHz and when I log into the modem there isn’t a button or check box to fix the issue.

As a result, I haven’t been able to setup ANY of my Wyze cameras (4), or lightbulbs (7). Any suggestions??

Which gateway do you have? Both of the AT&T-supplied gateways I’ve used in recent months—before and after the fiber transition—have had essentially the same interface and allow some control. In fact, for some stubborn IoT devices I’ve turned off everything except for the 2.4 GHz radio/SSID on that main gateway in order to force my phone to use that 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi access point and allow the devices to connect.

Why don’t you use the same SSID and password as the old router, that way you don’t have to setup anything, all your IoT will happily connect.

Set up the old router as a device off new. Either as stand alone or extender. And use it for the Wyze Cams only.

This does two things; keeps a dedicated 2.5 network and isolates cams (better security).

Also recommend giving a dedicated instead of random IP

If it supports AP mode that is an option (don’t daisy chain it as a router) but should not be necessary and likely will not solve the problem as it seems to be related to the cameras ability to contact wyze’s servers, which will still go through the new router. It could make things worse by adding more congestion to the 2.4ghz spectrum.

If the router lets you, make sure it is set to WPA2 only. Not WPA3 or WPA2/3.
