I already have cam v2 having a bridge. Now I got sensors v2. Can those be connected with cam v2 bridge or need separate hub?
Welcome to the Wyze User Community Forum @naman.brahmbhatt!
The Sense V2 Sensors require the Wyze Sense Hub to operate. They cannot be connected to the Sense V1 Bridge. It can only support V1 Sensors.
However, the Sense V1 Sensors can be connected to the Wyze Sense Hub.
Just ordered the Wyze Sense Hub. Is this correct that the “Sense V1 Sensors can be connected to the Wyze Sense Hub.” This will then bypass the old Wyze sense bridge on the USB plug of the older cameras.
I do not have any V1 Sensors, but yes. It is my understanding that this is the case. There are other @Mavens who do have V1 sensors and have paired them with the Sense Hub. I am not sure though, if there is a functional advantage to connecting it to the Hub or the Bridge. I have tagged the team, so they should be posting in with their experience.
Yes. After you get your Hub added, go through the process of adding a new v1 sensor, but just use your old sensor. The app will ask you whether you wish to connect to the Cam v2 Bridge or the Sense Hub. Choose the Hub and it will then guide you to stick the pin in the sensor’s reset hole. The advantage of the Hub-to-v1 sensor over the bridge is about twice the range and faster response time.
In theory, yes. There are some people reporting recently with the newer Hub Firmware updates that the hub hasn’t been accepting new setups of the v1 sensors consistently. This includes myself. My hub has accepted setup of only 1 out of the last 10 v1 sensor setup attempts. I submitted this Wyze a while ago, and they reported that they weren’t able to replicate this issue even though a few of us reported it and that it has not yet been widely reported and since the v1 sensors are mostly considered deprecated, they weren’t planning to devote the resources to resolving this. If you find that you are struggling to add v1 sensors to your hub, please let us know. I hope they work perfectly fine for you though. I don’t know what the difference is, but some people have no issues, while some others have struggles with the recent firmware accepting v1 sensors.
