I just logged in after a year or so to Wyze.com and was forced to change my password. After I did, my phone app wanted my to re-log in AND said I had have to sign in with Face ID or Fingerprint. WHY? I don’t do that for my phone for anything. It’s literally an invasion of my privacy. Do I have to toss all of my cameras in the bin or give away on Craigslist. I remember all my passwords, and they can be quite lengthy so why can’t we keep that going? I’m currently locked out of my cameras unless I go through my PC and pay for the Plus. jeez guys - you finally got me.

Funny part: I only logged on so that I can buy two new cameras! This is hilarious and quite infuriating.
I had the same thing happen when I tried to sign in to the Wyze app using another platform’s passport/SSO (eg: Google passport, Apple Passport, Amazon Passport, etc). My OS seemed to try to force me to setup a passkey or something including suggesting my fingerprint or face or whatever. It seemed to me that this was my OS or the passport trying to force it on me, not the Wyze app. I ultimately cancelled the passport sign in and decided to login directly with my Wyze email and password instead and now it logged me in without asking me to setup a passkey or whatever.
This led me to believe that it wasn’t really the Wyze app trying to force this, but rather the passport company or the Operating system. I could be wrong, but it doesn’t do this to me when I log in directly, only when I try to use my passport or password manager.
What kind of logging in is this happening to you on? Are you trying to use Google passport or Apple passport? Are you on Android or iOS? Do you use a password manager?
I’m curious if we can narrow down when it happens and why. I’m seeing it sometimes but not other times, so I’d like to figure it out and see if it’s worth sending specific feedback to Wyze on how to reduce this from continuing.

The forced password happened on my PC. When I was done I went to the app on my iPhone and that’s when it wanted the new password. Fine, no problem. But after the password it wanted me to get another device to photograph a QR code and then link that other device to my iPhone and then activate the Password app and upload it to iCloud. I don’t need that. No one in 5 years as figured out my password so Wyze or whoever should just leave it alone.
I’ll try again as you did. I’ll hold off on buying more Wyze stuff until that’s resolved. Which means my robot vacuum won’t be cleaning 'til then. My broom is still analog. Lucky I didn’t get the garage door opener or A/C thermostat from Wyze.
Well, I have my retail purchase account, and my forum account. Yep, they pulled that 2FA on my retail account, and they lost all future sales. I don’t used face id or passcode on the phone, and I sure as heck am not going to do it for Wyze. I’ve turned off my last Wyze camera and moved over to Tapo. Going to give my Wyze cams to a friend. Yes, I know, I know, giving someone my Wyze cams puts this friendship in jeopardy.
I was going to do the same but figured I would keep redundant camera systems running as long as my Cam Plus Lite stays grandfathered.
If Wyze has a system outage, I can access my Tapo Hub. If my home internet goes down, I can still check Wyze Cloud Event videos.

With Windows OS( Can’t speak for Apple or Linux)
Microsoft will be pushing users to use Passkey ( Face, Fingerprint, or PIN) so that users stop using the less secure common password login process we have all been use to for years.
For me, I use a PIN PASSKEY on my local PC, will never use a Fingerprint or Face…as a login, as if hackers gained access to either of those, we’re done from a personal security aspect.
Once you setup a Windows PC with a PASSKEY on your local PC
Web sites will recognize you have setup a local PASSKEY ( Face, Fingerprint, or PIN) when you login to other sites, ( Example: Google login page, recognizes that I have PASSKEY ( PIN) setup on my local PC, and will ask if you want to use the same PASSKEY to sign into Google web. using the same PASSKEY you use locally on your PC. ( some other sites I log into also recognize that I have PASSKEY setup on my local PC, and ask if you want to use that to login to their web sites too, WITH the same passkey. It’s not less secure, it’s the process of how it deals with PASSKEY technology
So you can use the same PASSKEY you use to login to your PC, as you would fro say a web site that supports PASSKEY technology.
I am not a big fan of PASSKEY’s but it’s suppose to be more secure overall, ( it gets pretty technical regarding the underlying technology of PASSKEY regarding what is suppose to make it more secure) compared to the way we have all logged in for years.
Time will tell, but yes, Microsoft is pushing users to start switching to PASSKEY’s not sure about others, like Apple and Linux OS’s
I dislike many things Windows does. Install an LG monitor on Windows and get McAfee popup ads.

My recommendation would be to purchase another Anti-Virus product, there are a lot of good ones out there, that also don’t harass computer users…
Sadly McAfee has been doing those annoying popups for years…

Get used to it. The government is forcing companies to implement face and ID logins for everything as part of their “protect the kids” and keep them from accessing social media, porn, etc. Because people use VPNs, etc. to get around age-gates, they want and are working on new laws that will require all OS and internet service providers to force users to supply ID proving age to login and use. That’s the first part. The next step is then require the user to have their face scanned at random times to prove they are the user registered to the device/service. Can’t have those pesky kids using someone else’s ID to go online to use social media or view porn.
I would have thought having the providers of those services and parents police those things would be better and cheaper for everyone, but that would cost the companies more and it wouldn’t let them implement their police state to see what everyone is doing and saying at all times. When that happens, my internet usage will drop to almost nothing as I’ll rarely even go online and I’ll give away/throw away anything not absolutely necessary that requires it.
I will not use Wyze if it requires my face or complicated login procedures, too much work and takes away too much privacy (along with taking my data without my permission). I would rather hackers log in and use my cameras than be forced into providing my face, ID, or data.
