Secure your own Wyze Lock Bolt today! - 4/19/22

Pretty excited about this product and considering it. We’ve been feeling like we have to many eggs in one basket, but this product actually gets our attention.

The drawback to most such locks is battery life. The most sensible design uses the battery only to engage the bolt, but relies on a human to actually slide the bolt.

Biggest weak spot is shown in the photo. Installed on a glass door. Break the glass and turn the inside knob I’m in. :disappointed:

I live in MA, And the building code here will only allow a turn knob inside.

I bet the Schlage BE365 is allowed. From the outside, you can rotate the thumb turn till you are blue in the face, but it only engages the bolt if you have entered the correct code. As an extra caution, I provide a chain lock as well.

I have a similar lock to the Schlage , and I actually have 3 cameras (different brand) that record my front door,

So you have to enter a code to get out of your house? If not how does the lock know which side of the door you are on when you break the glass and turn the inside knob?

No code required to open the lock from the inside; just rotate a dial to open the bolt. The BE365 has been installed and in use for over 8 years on 50+ rental units. Never had a single complaint. I change the 9 volt battery annually, just to be safe. In a test case with the resident manager, the battery still worked after 3 years.

Got my Wyze Bolt today! It is very sleek and nice. And the fingerprint reader lives up to the ‘speed’ hype. It blows me away!! Overall it seems to be a better choice for us than the Wyze Locks we had. Still would be nice with the wifi gateway like the Wyze Lock has. We did notice that when shared, that person could only create a passcode and nothing else. The video states they would be able to add fingerprints and all, just not add users. Am I missing a step maybe?

Can the lock be configured completely offline without having to login to a Wyze account?
I ask because I know there are many people who are against buying any product that basically fails to work when the servers go down.

Recently a smart home product company, Insteon, closed down their servers and all of their products just stopped working and it is a hot topic for a lot of people now. So I want to ask, will this product function, be configured, and continue to function without having to first login to the Wyze app?

Installed my lock tonight. After receiving (but before installing and using) I ordered two more, after using it a while kind of wish I hadn’t ordered more. Lock works smoothly, was worried about a motorized lock getting hung up, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem so far. Fingerprint unlocking only seems to work about 25% of the time for my 9 year old for some reason even though it was no problem to program the 8 fingerprint scans to set up, adults don’t seem to have the same problem. Not sure why when you share it with another use they can’t set up a fingerprint in their app, have to use the main account for that. Installation was easy. Things I don’t like; seems to take a long time to connect to phone (really doesn’t like it if you connect from one phone and then try to from another). Once programmed this probably won’t be an issue because you don’t really need the app. Was really surprised there are no notifications. I guess my doorbell will alert me, but my wyze doorbell 2 doesn’t record every event for some reason, only about 75% of them, especially if there are several close together. Also why even have the lock and unlock from the app if you can’t use it remotely? I guess if you are away from home and need to let someone in you can use the one time code feature, so all is not lost, but why no wifi access? Add wifi and notifications and you have a winner. As someone who works in commercial door hardware, a grade 3 lock is at the bottom of the scale, the Schlage lock I replaced this with was a grade 1 (commercial quality), would have liked to see at least a grade 2 rating to secure my home. Hopefully version 2 of this lock will add these missing functions.

Maybe you can help. I ordered the Wyze Lock Bolt and have received it. However I was over-charged by $10. I’m a CamPlus subscriber and was supposed to have been charged $59.99 for it. And indeed that’s the price it showed after I logged in and that’s the price it shows in my order history, but I was billed the full $69.99 plus tax and shipping. I clicked on the link on the order page to get help for the order, but that went to no-reply@wyze.com and I haven’t received a reply. I also interacted with your service-bot, telling it my sad story, but nothing has come of that. Here’s a screenshot of my order. You can see that the numbers don’t add up.

Can you help me remedy this problem?
