Bug report:
With “Rules”, it is possible to set up a rule that when a camera detects motion, an event will be triggered (such as turning on a light).
HOWEVER: the rule works only if “Event Recording” for that camera is ON. If Event Recording is OFF, then motion will not trigger the event. For Rules, event detection should not be dependent on the recording of that event.
It is not a bug.
Rules are saved on and initiated from the server. In order for the server to execute a rule, it must receive an uploaded Event video meeting the criteria of your trigger.
Event Recording is the setting where you tell it if you want videos recorded and uploaded to the server.
No Event Recording = No Event Video = No Rule Execution (and also no notification).
