It says you don’t need a subscription with the Wyze Cam Pro V3 2K. I’m able to create a rule that is triggered from a person being detected. Unfortunately, that rule never gets triggered. If I only change it to “motion detected”, it works. Is that a bug, or limitation on purpose by Wyze, or something I’m doing wrong?

Are you receiving Person tagged Events in the Events list on that unsubscribed V3Pro?
I am receiving them in the events list but the rule I made for the event is not showing up in the rules history. It doesn’t even show that the rule failed.
Thx. Just trying to get an idea for what it is showing you. Are you also not getting Person Event Push Notifications?
I’m getting the Person Event Push Notifications to my phone. What I’m trying to do is to blink a Wyze Bulb when a person is detected by the Wyze Cam Pro V3 2K. I get the notification on my phone that a person was detected but the rule to blink the light never runs.
Thanks. I did understand your intent, I was asking about receiving the Push Notification as a confirmation that the server was both Tagging the Event in the Events List and actively confirming that event tag with the Push Notification. This tells me that the Cam is doing its job by identifying Person and uploading and the Server is doing its job by posting that tagged Event and sending a Push Notification.
The question now is to determine if it’s a failure of the Rules Engine Server to initiate a rule execution because it missed a Tagged Event trigger, or if it’s in the bulb local firmware logic not receiving or executing a sent Action command from the Rules Engine Server.
Does the Rules History show that the Rule Executed successfully?
If you create a Shortcut Rule with an identical Action to blink the lights, does that shortcut rule execute and blink the lights?
Does the Rules History show that the Rule Executed successfully?
No, the rule history doesn’t show that the rule executed. Neither successfully or unsuccessfully.
If you create a Shortcut Rule with an identical Action to blink the lights,
does that shortcut rule execute
Yes, a Shortcut Rule to blink the light works immediately and is shown as successful in the Rules history.
Also, if I make a single change the device trigger event to be “Detects Motion” instead of “Detects a Person”, it works and is shown as successful in the Rules history.
Just looked at the listing for the camera and I don’t see that anywhere. Where do you see anything that mentions no subscription needed for person detection? Not saying you didn’t see it, but I can’t find anything.
Here’s a question from the FAQ page that addresses it.
Confident this is an unforeseen limitation.
@dsmith
I will reach out to the team on this but my guess is that you are getting the person detection notifications due to the Edge AI on Wyze Cam v3 Pro detecting a person but I think the rule is probably looking at the cloud person detection for confirmation it sees a person and the cloud person detection requires a subscription. This is just a guess on my part though, I will follow up when I know for sure.
