Has anyone actually had success activating RTSP on their v3 cams after updating firmware to official support? I keep getting an eternal spinning loader icon after putting in a username and password and selecting RTSPS or RTSP. It hangs both times.
I managed to. I am working on a Python Sdk That needs it
Yes lots of people have gotten it working. Are you using the latest app too?
I can’t get it working either. Firmware version is 4.61.0.3
IOS App version is v3.14.0 (56).
4.61.0.3 is some weird firmware that shipped on some v3 cams that never seems to have actually been released. You need to update to the latest release firmware to use the current iteration of RTSP. If you look through the beta release thread people report that the firmware you have causes that exact symptom, freezing after trying to enable RTSP.
If your cam won’t update through the app (which others report happens with that firmware version) you will need to use the SD card update process.
I’m running current versions of app, v3 & v3 pan and RTSPS works for me, although it was a leap of faith. The app always looked like cam RTSPS configuration failed yet the views are streaming.
I am running into the same issue with Wyze Cam v3 4.61.0.3 and plugin version 3.16.3. Any workarounds out there? Do I have to rollback to an older version from https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024852172-Release-Notes-Firmware#Accordion-wyze-cam-v3-firmware-40?
Check the previous comment to yours. If you have the latest production firmware and latest production app, it should work, perhaps you’re just seeing what they were, didn’t look like the config was taking, but it is actually working?
I was not able to get to the stage to see the actual RTSP URL to test. But I found the other forum that talked about this issue here: RTSP for v3 and Pan v3 - #254 by jjpicante
Welcome to the Forum, @louwii! ![]()
You’re already using an old firmware version. I was going to suggest checking recent discussion starting with RTSP for v3 and Pan v3 - #243 by lins.douglas20, and it looks like you’ve already consulted that topic. ![]()
You need the latest firmware and latest app. Not beta, production versions.
Get RTSP working first, then try RTSPS.
When my RTSPS setups failed, the undisplayed URL still works according to this pattern:
rtsps://:@:322/stream0
Maybe yours will stream the same way. Good hunting!
I’m Sorry
There should not be a colon between the dbl-slash and the name.
Thanks everyone for the help. I was able to get this working by flashing my cameras with the latest firmware (4.36.16.6114). Not sure why my camera had a different firmware? Possible from trying to flash it a long time ago.
That’s likely why, as that older (but higher version number) RTSP firmware was flash-only (at least as I understand it) and RTSP was incorporated into the production OTA firmware channel only in February of this year.
Yeah my understanding is the same as @Crease’s - the old RTSP firmware essentially stopped your cam from being able to update “over the air”. Now that you’ve updated it once (I’m assuming using SD card) to a production firmware, you should be able to update normally now. Though I’d still turn off auto updates and let new firmware be tested by others before updating. Even then, update one cam and make sure all is well, then do others (if you have more than 1). That’s generally the path I follow, I’ll give it a week or two, if no complaints here, update one, then after a few days, update the rest if there haven’t been any issues.
