Confused about RTSP firmware

I’m trying to set up a Wyze Cam v3 Black using RTSP but I can’t get it working. The camera is powered on, but the Wyze app says setup failed when I try to add credentials (name and password). The camera is connected to Wi-Fi and on the same network as the app. Some sources talk about a firmware download BUT the app shows the RTSP setting under: Advanced Settings > RTSP > “Set Up”. What is going on and why does it keep on failing? PS: the app is version firmware 4.61.03

Is this the regular v3 or Panv3?

Make sure you have both the latest app and firmware, you need both for it to function right, if the firmware doesn’t support RTSP, the button won’t work.

hi thank you for the help. its the regular v3. where is the download link to the new firmware?

I suggest you figure out what cam and app you have, there is no app 4.61.03
To check the cam firmware go to settings > Device info and see what firmware you have.
For the app go to account , bottom of the page and tap About to see app version.
All current information here:

Here is what my app says:

V3 was made in White, Black and a limited Blue. I don’t think they made a separate firmware for each color and there is no listing of firmware (V3) for different colors. I have different colored V4 cams and they have the same firmware. Very odd situation.

Is that a RSTP Firmware version?

@originaltaste it appears that firmware version is some weird one that came on some cams years ago. It doesn’t support the current RTSP. If your cam isn’t seeing that an update is available, you may need to manually flash the latest firmware using an SD card (instructions are on Wyze’s site).

Some info/confusion about that version: You will need the latest app also.

In my search of old post there is one that says that firmware 4.61.0.3 is an old RTSP beta firmware and the recommendation was to update to the current production firmware then try to update the RTSP current version.
