RTSP BETA RELEASE FOR v3 and Pan v3!

Edit: Oops tinyCam? No haven’t used it in so long. Couldn’t you use the uri?:

rtsp://:username:password@ip_address:554/stream0

No. It doesn’t work. Checking the stream (in manage cameras) flashes “unknown authentication type” error

I discovered what I already knew, my HP Workstation that runs everything and has a crap resident Intel NIC e1000 something or other that’s known to bottleneck.

My cameras logs turn to crap once in a while. NUT power graph system monitor in HAOS looked like a bad EKG.

Added a gigabit USB NIC supposedly known to be good and thought I broke NUT. Just a clean flat line 120V from my UPS.

Point being, sometimes network equipment can be crappy and cause issues and noise, did for me.

I’ll watch Frigate logs for 24 hours and see if anything RTSP has improved. Or not.

I’ve been following this on-and-off for a while now, but I’m not going to be a beta user just yet.

Here’s my million dollar question: Once this gets out of beta and goes live in the mainstream Cam Pan v3 firmware, is it expected to also be introduced in other Wyze cameras?

I would not expect it to be back-ported to the Cam Pan v1 or v2 (?), but rather the v4 and other current Wyze cameras, Thoughts?

Yes, it was mentioned at some point in this thread that next will be V4.

They have announced that is their plan, testing with the v3 and v3 pan, with plans to move on to some of their more recently released models.

FWIW, here are some relevant posts:

I stumbled on this Github information on Facebook and the person either works for Wyze or if not, should be communications director.

Laid out pretty good for Wyze Beta RTSP information.

Anyone know about this site? I didn’t.

Well, I switched from Coral USB (probably wasted $112 :roll_eyes::thinking::face_with_bags_under_eyes:) to free lol, Openvino and Frigate plus yolov9s model. Actually, MobileDet plus was not running too bad. Had issues with distant farm lane vehicles.

We’ll see I suppose. Coral Edgetpu USB was doing about 10-12ms, Openvino on GPU is showing 28ms.

How powerful is your GPU though?

Not that powerful, integrated in an Intel i7-8700 “supposedly” adequate though.

The supposed specs;

In an HP Z1 G5 workstation.

Intel Core i7-8700 processor uses the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630.

Intel UHD Graphics 630 Specifications

The Intel UHD Graphics 630 is an integrated graphics solution built on a 14nm process. It shares system memory (RAM) and does not have dedicated video memory.

  • Architecture: Coffee Lake GT2 graphics processor

  • Execution Units: 24

  • Shading Units: 192

  • Base Frequency: 350 MHz

  • Maximum Dynamic Frequency: Up to 1.2 GHz

  • Memory: Uses integrated/shared system memory, maximum shared memory up to 64 GB

  • APIs Supported: DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.5

  • Maximum Resolution (via DisplayPort): 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz

I’m surprised it’s holding up to a Google Coral for detection use cases

So when can we expect Round 2 and/or Updates?

Im dealing with the same issue, My V3 use to work in TinyCam and iSpy, but now with the new Beta firmware I cant figure out what URL to use to get it to show up?? Any help would be great!

Thank you @WyzeDave. I had replaced my Wyze cameras with your competitors precisely because I could not use RTSP with BlueIris. I love your cameras and now I can pull them out of mothballs. If this works out, I will be recommending Wyze cameras to my friends. I much prefer official Wyze firmware over thingino. I think this will be good for your brand, even though most of your customers, including me, probably use your cloud services. Thank you for your efforts with this project!

Are we still expecting to see updates and potentially v4 camera RTSP start of the new year?

I’ve been testing the Wyze Pan v3 for a while, and all I can say is that the RTSP signal doesn’t work very well. It lacks smoothness, and I don’t think this can be considered a finished product.

What issues are you experiencing, and where? Stuttering video, in the wyze app, or in your recording platform where you are picking up the RTSP stream?

I have 7 cameras running this firmware with 0 issues. No lag in the app when viewing live, and no lag once my recording platform, frigate, has processed the video and I go back to play it.

Let us know, and good luck.

At first it was happening in Frigate, and then I switched to Blue Iris thinking that was the problem, but the image still freezes and there are glitches.

Have you looked into your 2.4GHz network as a potential issue? Do you have other 2.4GHz cameras that do not exhibit the same symptoms? I have a few Wyze v3 running RTSP, along with multiple Wifi home automation devices on the same 2.4GHz band, without issues.
