Router Compatibility

I recently replace my router with a tp-link deco m4 mesh router. I am having trouble streaming more than 2 wyze cameras in the wyze app at the same time. Will not stream multiple wyze cameras reliably. Stream drops out and get error message. Has anyone had compatibility problems with Wyze camera and the Deco m4 router?

I don’t have any experience with that model, but others have been using Wyze Cams successfully on many different brands/models of mesh gear.

I see the M4 offers Quality of Service (QoS) control, you could try turning that off if it’s enabled, or turn it on and assign network priority to the Wyze Cams.

Thanks @thequietman44. The only option I have in QoS is to prioritize the cameras, which I have done, but it still will not reliably stream more than two cameras at a time. I like the display in Wyze app where you see four cameras at a time, but I guess I will have to settle for watching one or two cameras at a time.

If you want to try to narrow down the cause of the slowness you could try temporarily moving the cameras close to one of the mesh nodes and see if performance improves. If so then it may be a signal strength/quality issue. If not, then that would point back to the mesh network itself.

I realize this is an old post but curious if you ever found a solution to this problem. I too have the tp-link deco m4 mesh router and have never successfully got my cameras to work right. I finally gave up and running them on a separate network on my old router.

I do not have a problem with the cameras working with the TP-Link deco M4 router per say. My problem was camera groups of two more cameras not working properly- one or more cameras in the group would not update properly. This problem has greatly improved with Wyze app updates, though it can sometimes still be issue. I am running 11 cameras, multiple contacts, and multiple motion detectors.

Interesting. I’m running one Deco M4 system and have almost the opposite experience - the Wyze V2 cams are one thing that connect to it fine, and it’s a few other stubborn devices that have to run on a different router.

About all I did to set it up was change passwords, update the Deco firmware and make sure the SSID and IP range were different from anything else in the house.

I believe I had to change the 2.4GHz channels on the other routers after firing up the Deco because it didn’t have a way to manually set channels.

I just set up the Deco S4 network and my Wyze doorbell (that sits a few feet from the router) refuses to connect. Someone suggested I turn the Deco to 2.4ghz only, add the bell, then turn on the higher band. Need to try but was hoping I wouldn’t have to bother. Fingers crossed!
