Some people do not understand there is a fine line between being helpful or downright obnoxious/irritating.
He understands. He doesn’t care.
Let me get this right. You are telling someone who don’t own one to butt out because they don’t own one yet you are here commenting on the same item…and you don’t own one…lol. Can’t make this crap up.
Please learn to read. Go back through all the post on this item. I never stated the the Robot vacuum was good or bad. The only post I made was about the fake lawyer trying to get every owner to report the “ITEM” to the Feds, like they will really care or take any action, it is not a SAFETY issue. I also stated I think the only way to repair the wood floors is to get a professional floor finisher to either replace or repair. As for carpet damaged I think it would also have to be replaced.
I don’t need to learn to read. I know how. I have read every post on here. You’re upset (for some reason) that someone is advising other to seek help for paying for damage that a Wyze product caused. Somehow that offends you. Advising someone where to get help is not a “fake lawyer”. People have been trying to get Wyze to respond to this issue for months and only recently have they commented on it. Maybe you should learn how to read?
Directing people to government agencies which have no scope for the matter is wasting time and reproduces of those agencies as they need to take time out to tel people it is not in their scope. Did you even contact such agency to see if is in their scope? If so, get a contact and tell people to make contact to that contact. Otherwise shut up and stop giving bad advice and wasting everyone’s time including the agency. I think the agency you are really looking for action from are attorney generals or the federal trade commission. Please get your facts straight before spamming the forum. Really pissed off? Be the lead for a class action lawsuit and get paid for it. That’s why you are being called a fake lawyer because you don’t even give good advice and continue to spam with poor advice.
As for this entire thing, it saddens me to see wyze with dragging this along this long. Just eat the fact and give everyone a refund. It probably will be less expensive now to get the products back before more damage can be done. Why the CONTACT US on the Seattle area. You are dragging this on and on. This is also what happened with the outside cameras, and other bugs, deny deny deny and drag it on till the users give up. You lose an entire fanboy userbase in the process.
Make a sticky. Tell people you are aware of an issue instead of telling people to waste more time cleaning it with wd40, when we all know that is not going to clean most instances or carpets. Why even suggest that? Coming clean and owning your s… does wonders. If you have faulty products, which has been a trend lately, maybe you should refocus on what you are good at and stop expanding into areas where it is tarnishing your brand.
The reason Wyze is asking for people in the Seattle area to contact them is so the ycan work closer with them to find the issue. Wyze is located in the Seattle area so they can possibly see the stains first hand. I have not seen Wyze deny that this is happening. The reason this thread is here is for a means to collect data.
As a moderator of the forum I ask everyone to please follow the Community Guidelines and remain civil with each other. If everyone cannot remain civil we will be forced to close the thread, which we would rather not do because this issue needs to keep being looked into. I personally as a user would like to see this get resolved as I have 2 of these in my own house. I know for many this is a very upsetting and in many cases a costly issue, but if we can all remain civil we can keep this dialogue open so this can be resolved sooner.
Good advice except for telling people to shut up. “Be quiet” would have worked, but I agree with your comments.
I have this issue too - it is definitely the rubber wheels reacting with the carpet. We had this issue many years ago with one of our bicycles we had stored in a guest bedroom (same carpet) and after a period of time we found yellow discoloration under the tires. I know certain rubber and vinyl compounds react so I guess there is some vinyl in the carpet fibers or backing the wheels are reacting with.
I also have an issue where the weight of the vacuum causes it to sink just a little into the carpet and cause a mis-alignment with the base station charging bars. Sometimes the contact is poor and the vacuum goes into an endless loop of disconnecting and re-connecting until I manually shut it off.
My freebie solution to both problems has been to cutout a piece of cardboard that the vacuum sits on. This raises it about 1/8"-1/4" above the carpet (but higher than it was before considering the wheel ruts in the carpet) and also puts a barrier between the carpet and the tires. It doesn’t look good at all, but at least in my house the vacuum is in a less visible corner. Obviously, would prefer Wyze change the tire material and make revisions to the base station (more stable, wider charge bars to account for mis-alignment).
Nice writeup. Please call Wyze support with your documentation on this matter.
Another 2 weeks gone by. Still no word from Wyze on their progress figuring out this issue or addressing how they will make it right for those of us with ruined floors.
Yes…Waiting to see how this will be addressed. New Rubber tires for the Vac…For the MANY ruined floors…Small Claims Court.
@WyzeHongfei I have the same issue as well. Going through this thread, my MAC is 7C78B20A19C9. The following are images on our vinyl floor (pretty new and getting these stains now). I didnt notice these on my old floor.
Couldn’t add others as I’m only allowed to post 1 image per post ![]()
Happy to provide them if needed
Glad I saw this thread. We have multiple Wyze devices and are generally pleased. We have a less smart robovac (not Wyze), but it gets hung up on wires under sofas, etc. Spouse wants the ability to have a robovac map so we can exclude some areas. I immediately thought of the Wyze robovac. After reading this thread…nope. I’ll spend more $ on the front end to purchase a competiting robovac with mapping to avoid the potential staining problems later. It seems to me that Wyze is responding - but with glacial slowness - to the problem. If more potential customers reported the choice to purchase a competitor, maybe Wyze would make solving/resolving this issue more of a priority than it seems to be so far.
Smart decision…There are a number of threads related to Staining with Wyze Robo Vac. Let’s see what happens.
The short term very workable solution to this is to use a mat big enough to accommodate the Vac when it positions itself for charging. We have mentioned this on the thread but I would expect Wyze to make this a public announcement and even offer one with their product at this point. An included Mat would be at least partially “addressing” the issue instead of the drip of information we are getting from support. I get that they need information about the issue but at some point the problem is established, recognized and the only step left is how to deal with it.
Solving the problem entirely will require the changing of the manufacturing of the wheels. (At least from all evidence given that’s my assumption) Whether that’s an adjustment in materials or a completely new supplier. Either way… Use a mat for your vacuum or a small piece of cardboard as I am doing. Basically anything that you can park it on that rests between the wheels and the floors. It will save you from any markings on the floors when the Wyze Vac does it’s charging “dance” of orientation.
I found this thread days after buying mine and while I use my vac on carpet, the cardboard works. While my setup isn’t pretty, it does the job perfectly and when I move I will use a nice pretty mat to tailor the aesthetic towards something more appealing.
I would unplug the Robo Vac and store it until a solution is publicly announced from Wyze. Some of the pictures of the staining are not only by the Base Station. Why take a chance?
A crappy way for me to discover that this has been a known problem for months. I could have avoided this or at least monitored and mitigated the damaged caused by these vacuums. I had our hardwood floors refinished to the tune of over $10k a year ago and now have damage that cannot be repaired without a full refinish. $200 vacuum vs $10k floors. Which would you choose?
Damage like this is not entirely unheard of in rubber contact with wood. Apple had issues with their HomePod when it was released. They were more open about it and there was a lot of discussion so people were more cautious about its placement. I’m disappointed in Wyze for not at least sending out a notice to all Vacuum purchasers that they should monitor such placement.
Have a discussion with your Marketing and PR department. They work hard to build a brand consumers can trust. A cornerstone of your brand is trust and open communications. Avoiding a discussion of problems like this makes you look scared to have this in the open and undermines your credibility. I’ve purchased over 50 Wyze products for thousands of dollars. Do you think I trust you now? What risk am I putting my property in with installed Wyze products? You’ve damaged my home. I could never trust you with a door lock or home monitoring and wouldn’t even consider something like a smoke/CO detector that could mean life or death. Will a Wyze plug start a fire? What about leaving my cordless vacuum pluged in or even the robot vac. Do you see how that is like a domino that gets kicked?
