Remote Wyze Cameras V3 and V4 do not connect, while remote Solar Cameras do connect

I can no longer access my remote Wyze V3 and V4 cameras on Wyze Web Portal (Windows 11). I can access my remote Solar Cam Pans. V3 and V4 cameras show to be online and I can access all remote and local cameras on my android phone with the Wyze app. V4 FW: 4.52.17.13; V3 FW: 4.36.17.10. Any ideas?

Local and remote should not matter. Check your subscription settings in the app and make sure those cams are associated with your subscription.

Thanks. I have Cam Unlimited and all cameras show a badge, which I think means they are enrolled.

Yes with unlimited all of your cameras should be attached, I don’t think you can pick and choose.

So it is only web view and only v3 and v4 cams that are affected? Is it all of those model or only certain ones?

May need to try clearing your browser cache or try and incognito/private window, something may be “stuck”.

When you say the don’t connect, you can see them in web view but they don’t show video? I’d start to suspect your router or ISP at the remote location blocking something, one of the protocols the v3/v4 use maybe?

Appreciate the suggestions. It is all of the remote V3 and V4 cameras. The web browser shows “Connecting…” and then fails. It shows “Refresh” or “Submit log.” which I have done.

This is what I have done with no resolution: 1) I have used several different browsers (Edge, Chrome, FireFox); 2) I have used 4 different computers running Windows 11; and 3) I have used my smart phone as a WiFi access point.

So, if I can access all cameras on my android smart phone using the Wyze app, I don’t think there is something being blocked at the remote site.

To eliminate Windows 11 as a problem, try accessing the Wyze Portal on your phone’s browser.

Thanks. I hadn’t thought of doing this. However, unfortunately, the cameras behave the same as on a Windows browser: Solar pan cameras show live images, V3 and V4 cameras do not.

Sounds like a WYZE Portal problem.

But you have to contact support for them to look at the log.

How do I contact Wyze Support? – Wyze

Call Wyze Support:
US: +1 (206) 339-9646.
Canada: +1 (581) 500-1166.

Thank you. I did not know that I needed to call support, too.

Web view uses different protocols, IPs, and ports from the app, so this doesn’t rule out anything.

If you have v3 and/or v4 cams at another location that work fine with web view, then it points to something with the network or internet at that other site.

Thanks for the response. I’d be interested to know your thoughts as to why it is V3 and V4 cameras and not the Solar Pan cameras. If it is a network issue, I will not be able to troubleshoot for several weeks, when I am back at the remote site.

There are lots of differences under the surface of each model of cam. Different streaming protocols, different servers and hosting providers, compression formats, etc. We’ve seen before where a router’s “advanced security” will false positive block something from one cam but not another. @carverofchoice may know better what differences there are in the solar pan cam (one of the newest cams) vs the v3 and v4 which are several years old.

If you have app access to the router (or a VPN or something that would allow you to access it) you might be able to see if there is anything being logged, or even try disabling the “advanced” malware detection if it has it.

Is the internet at that location 5G/Cellular? There are some cases where those providers compress video streams (like they do on unlimited phone plans) and they may not be able to properly compress whatever is being sent to the Wyze Web View server.

Appreciate your response and expertise. So, my ISP is Starlink, mainly because it is truly a remote location with no cable or fiber services. I have set this up as 2 networks. One is directly to the Starlink access point and the second is via an eero router. All cameras are connected via eero. When I get back up there, I will change the V3 and V4 cameras to Starlink to see if that makes a difference.

I also seem to recall people having assorted issues with eero routers. I believe Starlink also applies throttling and restrictions when it senses you have a second router connected?

Could also have something to do with the latency.

Thanks. What remains puzzling to me is that it is a new problem and it seems to me to be related to some firmware updates, although I am not certain of the timing of these updates.

So what I had to do was clear my cahche. I could view the cameras in incognito mode and not in regular. I rebooted and it cleared up. I am on Windows 11 and uptodate chrome. Try it and see what your luck is.

Thanks for the suggestions, but no joy here. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
