Recessed exterior mount on wall with siding?

What would be the best way to mount a wyze cam on an exterior wall with siding? I’ve seen clear junction boxes, but what about making it recessed and flush with the wall? It’s a garage so i have plenty of access to the interior, the camera would be facing outside, and flush would be preferred just to prevent theft, tampering of the camera.

Like this? My wires are ran through the attic

But I was just using the existing CC TV power cables it would’ve been just as easy to put a junction box inside the garage and do the same thing. So if you have the ability to work inside the garage and have the room you could easily do it

I was thinking more like a mini window or hole in the wall the cam can face out of. Just not sure how waterproofed i could make a seal in the siding for a cam to look out of.

Glass or plexiglass that it looks through is going to distort the image just by the way

Well, if the camera is going to “look through” a sheet of glass or other “clear” material, and you’re gonna use the IR lights, the glare of the IR’s will be visible to the camera - another way to think about it is the IR lighting will “bounce back” into the camera - NOT what you’ll want.

To mount on vinyl siding, I’ve used this mount, works great. Here the files to 3d print: WyzeCam Vinyl Siding Mount by BrandonThompson - Thingiverse

If you can’t 3-D print you can buy those on Amazon also just FYI

They also have these which are more similar to the 3-D printed version and I actually like these better but if you could get those 3-D printed versions from him and go that way

You could use a vinyl siding light mount plate. Drill a hole large enough for the lense and LED and mount the camera behind it.

That’s a great idea

Once again Angus black comes to the rescue

You need a hole big enough for the larger black circle on the front of the camera. The small black circle can be covered, there’s nothing behind it.

And if he’s going to be going with the WCO I don’t think that small black hole even on it

Also if he’s going to be waiting for the WCO then I would wait because I believe the WCO and v2 ARE NOT the same size.

Thanks, that’s more like what I was thinking. Never seen something like this before. The only other potential solution I found was this

Yes. Don’t hold your breath.

You don’t need anything covering the front of the camera. All that will do is cause reflection from the IR lights.
I have three cameras outside in Canada, no problems at all.
