Read Very Carefully

READ VERY CAREFULLY - product descriptions are not fully descriptive of product limitations and they hint at other requirements for a feature to work. It may be useful to review community posts for actual device features and limitations.

Doorbell limitation:
While attempting to resolve other problems, I discovered that the Video Doorbell Pro is not compatible with live view, so it is viewable on the phone app or events. Doorbell features vary.
Video Doorbell v1 can be seen in live view.
Video Doorbell v2 and Video Doorbell Pro CANNOT.

Lock Bolt:
Unlock From Anywhere feature ONLY works when the lock is used with a doorbell and it cannot be far from the doorbell. Front door doorbell may not see the back door lock bolt.

Scales:
To record scale readings, the phone must be in the same room as the scale and the user must actively connect the scale. The scales do not retain any reading as scales made by other manufacturers will do.

Device Settings:
Even though a setting may be ON or OFF, devices will perform in a manner unrelated to the setting. Example: My notification settings are ON for the phone, the smartphone app and for each device yet there are ZERO notifications. Also, updates will reset settings in random ways with no warning.

Wyze should be more forthcoming and illustrate feature limitations clearly showing which models have specific features and which do not.

The more products I have, the less satisfied I am with Wyze.

Wyze does make efforts to do this, the challenge is that everyone cares about different things as priorities they care about and 99% of people have short attention spans and donā€™t spend more than 10 seconds reading anything before moving on. No matter what any company tries to say or include or describe, there are and will be lots of customers saying they didnā€™t do so in the custom manner that individual prefers and prioritizes/wanted or maybe didnā€™t care about in the moment but does later even if the thing was actually there, sometimes very clearly everywhere. Itā€™s a difficult thing to manage.

This is the reasons a lot of companies like Wyze make a reasonable solution being a return policy. A customer can feel safe in getting a product and if they find out that it doesnā€™t meet their needs or expectations like they had assumed, they can just return it for a refund. Donā€™t keep anything you arenā€™t satisfied with. Wyze allows a 30-day return policy on most of their stuff. So if someone doesnā€™t want to spend the time reading all the minutia about every single product, youā€™ve still got a reasonable satisfaction guarantee safety net even for those who have different custom expectations or attention spans.

(Note, I am just a Wyze user myself, I do not work for or represent Wyze in any official capacity, I just have multiples of nearly every Wyze product, so I am pretty familiar with them all)

I agree with this, and I think it can be particularly helpful if someone takes the time to read multiple posts (hopefully of good quality) in order to formulate oneā€™s own assessment, because different users might describe different experiences, for instance:

This has not been my experience at all. Live view for my Video Doorbell v2 is consistently available whenever I want to check it, and I even use Wyze Rules and Google Home Automations to stream the Doorbellā€™s live view on three different displays whenever someone presses the button.

This has also not been my experience with Scale S. I step on this thing nearly every day but actively connect my phone to it only once every 1-2 weeks or so, yet when I check the history in the app my daily data is there.

I agree with that, too, on general principle. For instance, Iā€™d be interested in knowing how much history my Scale S can store without actively connecting my phone before it starts to lose data (here Iā€™m thinking it might rewrite older records in memory much like the way cameras do with continuous microSD recording, but I really donā€™t know). I also wish some of their marketing and other publicly available information didnā€™t imply the availability of certain features in some products (here Iā€™m thinking specifically about ā€œfreeā€ Edge AI Person Detection in Wyze Cam v4, for one), because I think that leads to a lot of confusion and misunderstanding.

Iā€™d use the same sort of disclaimer as @carverofchoice, but he vastly exceeds my Wyze device experience in both variety and quantity, so Iā€™ll say that Iā€™m also just another user.

FYI, for this, I assumed they were talking about the webview webportal. People often say live view when they are talking about that. The webview does have some model cams that are not compatible with it such as the VDBPro:

But the VDBv2 IS compatible with it and streams, so maybe there is a misunderstanding. I have used it many times. Some of the doorbells are actually recent additions to the Web portal viewing, but the VDBPro and WCOā€™s are still incompatible with it.

But I could be assuming wrong.

This works for me with the Wyze app itself, but then if I do it this way, the Wyze app doesnā€™t always transfer the weight to Google Fit, and I also donā€™t get all the other cool measurements, so I try to always use my phone so I get more than just my weight.

Good point. I guess I was making the other assumption and describing my own experience with live view in the Wyze app (and also streaming that live view on Google Home connected display devices and within the Google Home app, which also works fairly reliably for me).

Thatā€™s how I used to do it until I read another post somewhere else on the Forum that made me think maybe this wasnā€™t necessary (for my purposes, but then Iā€™m not trying to link out to a third-party integration), so I no longer open the Scale S module in the Wyze app and make sure I get the Bluetooth connection confirmation before stepping on the Scale. I did an export just a few days ago when looking into an issue and responding to another Forum topic, and all of my expected data points were in the spreadsheet I received, so Iā€™m gonna keep doinā€™ it that way. It works for me, and itā€™s nice that I donā€™t have to grab my phone every time I step out of the shower.

The more $$ X model does not retain past readings. From your post, it appears the less $$ S model does retain reading. Why isnā€™t this described in the product description?

From their website: (
https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us/articles/4410968629275-What-is-Wyze-Web-View#h_01HSBZ1G7NYXBKBG2J1TDM8BS7)

Which Wyze Cams are compatible with Wyze Web View?
Currently, Wyze Web View allows you to view the Live stream and Event videos on the following devices:
Wyze Video Doorbell v1

Wyze Web View also allows you to view the Events only on the following devices:
Wyze Video Doorbell Pro
Wyze Video Doorbell v2

Does point out a product inconsistency or product name confusion? These limitations should be in the product description.

Iā€™m not sure why you directed your last two responses to me, but Iā€™ll respond directly to what I can.

I donā€™t have any experience with Wyze Scale X. I was explicit in my initial reply about my experience with Scale S because your initial post mentioned only ā€œScalesā€, so it was unclear which model(s) you mightā€™ve been referring to: Wyze Scale, Wyze Scale S, or Wyze Scale X.

I donā€™t know, and I agree that this would be helpful information to a potential consumer. If you happen to see other places where Iā€™ve posted on the Forum, including my inital post in this topic, youā€™ll note that I have frequently criticized Wyze for incomplete, incorrect, and/or ambiguous public messaging.

Regarding the doorbell situation, your initial post again was not clear about the viewing context. You wrote ā€œlive viewā€, which is what Wyze and many users refer to as the screen one sees when tapping a camera in the app in order to see what a camera is seeing at that moment, so I based my response on that. Itā€™s only now that youā€™re being specific about Wyze Web View.

So you are saying - Wyze customers donā€™t read or cannot their product descriptions - mildly insulting. When comparing product descriptions among manufacturers, the Wyze product descriptions are exceptionally short, tightly worded without detail or notations pointing out additional requirements. Your 1st sentence 41 words and the 2nd has 56 words - which is quite different than Wyzeā€™s product descriptions.

The Lock Boltā€™s (Big & Bold) ā€œUnlock from anywhereā€ feature is described in the LAST SENTENCE as the ā€˜new integrationā€™ of a specific doorbell model with Lock Bolt which is marketing speak. The ethical way it should read " Unlock from anywhere" is available with the additional purchase of a doorbell.

Your suggestion to return anything that is unsatisfactory implies that each product is exhaustively tested by the purchaser. Iā€™ve had the Pro doorbell for 6 months before I discovered that ā€˜live viewā€™ is not available.

You are quite loyal to Wyze.
