Temperature Control with reading of remote sensor only
Would be desirable to be able to install the Wyze Thermostat anywhere in the house, even at places where no temperature control is wanted. In order to do that, the Wyze Thermostat needs to work with a Wyze remote sensor but not average the temperature signals. Instead, use only the remote temperature for control.
I would add Include more than one room sensor as primary
I would love the option to be able to include more than one room sensor as primary. Let it do average.
i.e. I have 3 rooms for my 3 babies, each has it’s own room sensor. At night I would like for the HVAC to monitor all 3 of those rooms. But at the same time ignoring other room sensors I have i.e. master-bedroom and living-room.
I cannot install the Wyze Thermostat in my bedroom because there are only two wires connected to the existing thermostat in the bedroom. There is no c-wire. It would be prohibitively costly to install a c-wire from the bedroom to the boiler zone switching relay.
If I could use a Room Sensor as the primary sensor, then I could install the Wyze Thermostat in the boiler room where it would be simple to connect it to the zone switching relay with three wires, including a c-wire. Then I would simply install the Room Sensor in the bedroom. The functional result would be equivalent to installing the Wyze Thermostat in the bedroom.
If I have guests over to watch anything in the TV room (or dinner in the enclosed dinning room, etc…) , I should be able to control the climate in just that room, and ignore the rest of the house. But since my thermostat is in the cold part of the house, I only get an average temperature between the two locations. So I have to constantly chase the temp setting on the thermostat as to not overheat my guests.
It would be nice to be able to open the app, select a specific sensor, and hold the temperature on that sensor and ignore the rest of the house.
Hello, I wish for the room sensor temperature to be the primary used by the thermostat. I have a sensor in the bedroom and the thermo in the hallway. I don’t care about the temperature in the hallway. So averaging the two doesn’t work. The temperature reading is accurate so overriding the thermo temp doesn’t work either.
Glad I wasn’t the only one with this problem. I just switched from Ecobee and I was able to set one specific room (master bedroom) as the temperature preference during sleep mode. I cannot do this with my Wyze thermostat which is located downstairs and always significantly colder than my master bedroom. Please Wyze, add the ability to exclude the main thermostat in the overall comfort calculation.
My thermostat is really poorly located, on an outside wall that gets full sun in late afternoon when we’re supposed to minimize electrical usage. I can “correct” this in the daytime, but then it’s going to overcool at night unless I remember to change it after the outside temperature drops. Which means I’ll have to go deep into the menus twice a day instead of just letting the Wyze thermostat and sensors do their job on a schedule.
Is there any update on whether this will be made available as a feature or not? I just installed the thermostat and room sensors, and I was very disappointed to fine that excluding the thermostat temp reading is not an option. That is basic functionality when you have room sensors as part of a system. I need to know from Wyze if this is in the works or not? It is a make or break feature for me. If you do not plan on adding this functionality, I will likely be getting rid of this thermostat and the room sensors.
I know this is old and probably won’t happen, but I wanted to add my comment since this is a feature I would really appreciate.
My thermostat is in a position where I have no feasible way of moving it. Any sensor there doesn’t really reflect the temperature of my apartment. In fact, how poorly placed that area is was what prompted me to buy a Wyze thermostat and temp sensors in the first place. I had hoped to ignore the thermostat’s sensor entirely by doing this and was disappointed to find that it wasn’t a feature for Wyze.
The thermostat sensor is often at least 1 or a few degrees off from all of the sensors. Despite this, I have no way of removing it from the average, so my average is less accurate than it should be. That affects how well the system works for me.
Being able to disable the thermostat’s sensor and just use the temp sensors would be really helpful, and I’m sad to see this feature has been neglected. I hope at some point it will be reconsidered.
I was in the same situation, and I gave up on them ever fixing it. Additionally I was having issues with the sensors, so I recently switched to the Ecobee 3 lite, and I’ve never been happier. It fixes all the issues I had with the wyze, and it’s easy to use, and with Beestat you get tons of data on your home.
