Problems with Wyze Cam v2 and v3 with RTSP

I’m so disappointed with Wyze. I purchased several v3 cams when they first came out and promised RTSP support. I waited a very long time before that “beta” RTSP was released, and then purchased several more v3 cams. Literally a week after I got the additional cameras, they removed the firmware from the website.

The app and cams are now terrible to use. I hear something outside and by the time the app loads and connects to the cameras, there’s nothing to see. And that’s IF the cameras load. And on my iPhone, many of the live video feeds are stuck on a still image–sometimes from days or weeks ago.

The more “improvements” they make, the worse things get. I like the cameras, but I hate the app and greedy subscription model. Just give us RTSP…built in to a single firmware. Don’t worry about people not subscribing because they have RTSP. Those people aren’t really qualified customers for your subscription model, anyway. And not all of us CAN use the cameras connected to the service because of privacy concerns. (Think a doctor or therapist with patients coming to their home or office.) Let them have the cameras with RTSP and then tell everyone how wonderful the cams are…and then get 90% of those referrals signing up for the service.

It’s my fault I didn’t check before I bought the v3, but I thought that it still supported RTSP. I just want to make it known the I have no use for your cameras without RTSP.

It still does. See here for how: Wyze v3 Get RTSP - How-To Guide [2022] - BlinqBlinq

My cams are using the rtsp firmware and function fine. You can still load it. You just need the file.

I know it’s an old thread. But my problem to fix a couple cameras (v2 & v3) refusing to connect due to authentication failure was as simple as a extra “space” at the end of the user name in the wyze app. I did spent a couple days googling and trying all sort of diferent approaches. as I have 8 of them working for the last 4 years with no problems.
