Problems with Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro install

I installed two Floodlight Pro cams outside. I had no problem connecting them to my wifi but have run into the following issues:

  1. They are recording activity but I cannot go “live”. If I try to turn on a live stream I get “error -26”. I also cannot turn them “on” with the button on the video feed or using the “restart” button - both give me the same error message again.
  2. The recordings are on a lag
  3. I cannot find a toggle on the app screen or in the settings for manually forcing the floodlights on. The instructions say there is a small icon of the floodlight in the lower left corner of the screen that can be used to toggle lights on and off, but I do not have that on my screen. I want to check how they are aimed and where the light goes but can’t.

Things I have done:

  1. I updated all firmware
  2. I turned them off (via inside light switch) and then on again after waiting. They are hard-wired, so I cannot unplug them.
  3. I hard-closed the app and re-opened

None of those things have made a difference.

Why would they both record activity but not let me go “live” or use “restart”? The fact that they record when there is motion means they are working.

Welcome to Wyze error messages. They try to be as obscure as possible.

I have a floodlight pro that did this. It recorded clips in cloud even though it couldn’t connect most times. But I knew going in that it’s too far from the router. I added a mesh node closer to it and is now functioning properly. I didn’t allow the 2 recent firmware updates though.

Wyze likes to hide buttons, why, i have no idea. Press lightly on its live view and you’ll see buttons appear.

Pressing lightly only moves me to Troubleshooting.

Re thr router, I rebooted the router and the signal strength for both units shows strong (3 bars in the app) so it does not appear to be signal strength.

What app version do you have? I just tested this and I see white icons at the bottom of the view.

Same with mine. It isn’t a good indicator of connection quality.

Incidentally, I test all my floodlights before installing. I rigged a cable so I can plug in the floodlight under test to an ordinary outlet. Which is why I knew after installing, that the connection was poor.

My app version is 3.2.7 (1) and the firmware on the floodlights is 2.2.1.1135. All show up-to-date. No updates available.

I’m having the same issue basically except it says Error -8. Assume it’s a connectivity issue. But I have it 10ft from an outdoor mesh node. I’ve updated the firmware, app is up to date and reset everything. It will upload to the cloud and I can view most clips. But absolutely will not go live. This is my second floodlight pro. The first one never even had a setup light that came on so I could start the process.

All issues appear to have resolved themselves overnight. The icon to control the lights now appears and the cameras are “live”. I don’t know what changed, but am glad they are working now as they should.

Ain’t technology swell. At least Wyze technology.
