Please fix Android app

When are you going to finally fix the android app. When we save a video from playback it is only saving a screenshot and NOT the video. This has been like this since last 2-3 app updates. PLEASE fix this. Works fine on iOS.

Note that this is a User to User Forum and Wyze only periodically reviews the forum contents.

Have you contacted Wyze and submitted a ticket on this issue? Have you provided any logs?

I am using Android App version 3.2.6.592. I am having no issue saving event videos for viewing elsewhere. I normally use Google Photos to pass things on.

Can you provide which App version you are using and if this is happening on a specific camera. Can you also provide the steps you take to save an event so that the community can try and replicate the issue. In addition, make sure you set the permissions correctly on your Android device to allow photos and videos.

I will see if I can get some eyes on this for you once the information has been provided. If you have logs of this, please add the log number as well.

I believe what’s being described is something that has been discussed previously:

If you’re using a Samsung device and their Gallery app, then you may want to try @grapefruityoda’s workaround:

I haven’t been able to reproduce this issue, but I don’t use Samsung mobile devices. Apparently the video is actually being saved, but there’s a glitch that seems to keep certain apps from seeing it when the video and the thumbnail have the same file name.

I have this issue as well. Note that it IS saving the video but because it is also saving an image and giving it the same name, it confuses your phone’s OS. It seems to vary based on the OS version and phone manufacturer (each manufacturer may use a different gallery app etc).

The easiest way to view the video is to go into the gallery within the Wyze app. At least for me, the video shows there fine. You can share or upload it from there.

If you need to see it outside of the wyze app, the workaround is to go into your phone’s file manager, find the two files, and add a “1” (or whatever you want" to the beginning of the VIDEO file name. Basically change the file name (but not extension) on the video in some way so that it is different from the image, and that will “wake up” your phone to realize there are actually two files.

Of course you can also access the file from right within the file manager and share it from there without deleting it. Hooking your phone up to the PC and browsing the file system that way also works.

Not sure what the ETA is for a fix.

There is more info on the file locations in the links that @crease shared.
