They have a client that is loaded on the computer, The client allows you to view all your cams, arrange how you like, record directly to pc, etc….
At one point I had over 30 Wyze cams which about half have water incursion into lens and 6 died of orher issues, All after warranty.
Reolink’s may cost more initially but if you don’t have to replace them and don’t pay a subscription they actually end up costing less
EDIT: If you really wanted to view through a browser instead of the Client Application it is also possible although I don’t see a reason not to use the client app on the PC. Below are the instructions:
That seems like more of a software issue, are those vids from SD card? Have you tried a different card or at least formatting the card in a PC using something like the formatter from sdcard.org?
Could just be corruption or the card has reached the end if its useful life.
All it takes is one power blip to cause a corrupted file on the SD card which can affect other files/recordings. I wouldn’t write off the cam, if it is connecting fine, live streaming fine, etc, it is pointing more toward an SD card or possibly just config issue (where a factory reset might help).
The SD card itself, was it purchased from a reputable retailer? A lot of fake SD cards out there, and when they reach the true capacity (much lower than what it claims to be), weird things start happening.
I’d definitely try to rule out an issue with the card and/or factory reset the cam before replacing it.
Heck another thing to check is trying a different power adapter, power issues can definitely impact SD card recordings. The card itself seems more likely, but another thing worth trying.
This sounds plausible..a lot of the videos that come through (web view) skips. Sometimes by a minute or two. I’ll try a different adapter when it warms up tomorrow.
I only buy SD cards from a couple companies, like TeamGroup, PNY and Silicon Power. But if using a new adapter doesn’t fix it then I have a few backup SD cards ready to go.
Do you know whether Wyze will be updating the Telephoto, like they did from V3 to V4?
If your issue is primarily with retrieval from the Wyze Web Events page in the Web Portal, and that’s what’s causing you to believe that your Cam OG Telephoto…
…then I think a description of your experience within the app will help fill out the picture of what’s happening with your Cam. I wouldn’t expect microSD card use to factor into the Web Portal experience at all. There maybe some Wi-Fi or LAN issues that are causing connectivity problems with event upload and/or Web retrieval, or I also wonder about browser issues.
Is Cam OG Telephoto the only device that’s exhibiting this issue in Web Events for you? Can you view that Cam’s live stream in Web View? Are you using other Wyze Cams, and do they behave as expected within the Web Portal for both live view and events?
So maybe this Cam OG Telephoto is having issues with event uploads? Maybe that’s the origin of the problem? Can you view its live stream in the app and Web View? When did you last restart it, either via the app or with a power cycle? Note: When cycling the power, you may want to first navigate to the MicroSD Card settings screen and Eject MicroSD Card in order to reduce chances of corrupting the card, and then cycle the power. After the Cam reboots, it should resume microSD recording again.
I can view the live stream in the app but neither of my OG Tele cams display live stream on the web page. I chalked it up that they are not compatible with the web page
I’ve been power cycling for a couple of time, but didn’t think about the SD card
That’s primarily a precaution about ejecting the card. I’ve seen @dave27 mention it a few times, and I think it’s a good suggestion, so I’ve added it to my own practice whenever I want to power cycle a cam. I usually use the Cam’s Turn Off feature, as well, but that’s probably overkill.
Are you using Firefox? That’s not a supported browser for Web View, and I’ve never been able to stream any Cam OGs (or my Cam OG Telephoto) in Web View on Firefox even when some other Cams do stream. What happens if you try a Chromium-based browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Brave, etc.)?
First, none of those brands are considered to be high quality for flash memory. All are budget brands, with PNY perhaps being a bit ahead of the other two. All my cams are using endurance rated Samsung cards (and my dash cams are using older endurance rated Sandisk cards) and never a single SD card issue with any of them in many years.
Second, where you purchase them from matters. Ebay, 3rd party sellers on amazon, discount sites/stores, all are plagued by fake cards that are actually a small capacity card that has been re-labeled and given a fake format to make them appear larger. But when they hit the true capacity, they start having problems as they can’t write any more, even though there appears to be space.
For the most part, I just buy Samsung cards directly from Samsung these days.
So yeah I’d definitely check the power adapter and SD card - and also see how things behave in the app, as there are known limitations and glitches with web view. I suspect your cam is probably fine.
No, I have no idea. They were available a while back so black friday/xmas stuff may have depleted them, don’t know if there are more being produced and just taking time, or if they’re not planning to make more. Not sure what their plans are for a telephoto cam or even for the OG line (though they did release a new revision of the regular OG in 2025, but likely just due to parts availability or something).
I’d like to see a cam with variable optical zoom, but that would probably be more expensive.
