I would hope not.

Thanks for you’re response “I would hope not”.
My problem is that the last 2 V3 cams that I purchased (within a week) have this issue. Therefore I really need to know if I purchase yet another that it will not have this problem. I appreciate your response of “I would hope not” but am looking for someone who could be more definitive answer.
But I do appreciate your response.
Why take the risk? Then you will have to use your time and pay your money to send them back.
I wonder if all the Wyze Cam V3 are the same. There were 5 FCC filings with the V3 cam (C3, C3A, C3B, C3C, C3F). I wonder which ones made it to mass market and if there are any difference among them.
On hand I have one camera that I can easily check FCC ID ending with C3A. My other four V3 cameras are all mounted so I can’t easily check. FYI, I don’t have this event playback issue which prompts no SD card installed.
@WyzeJasonJ
The only reason to take the risk is that I really need a camera and hove no clue when they will get this issue fixed. I feel very frustrated that I can’t get an answer and I don’t know where I can get a timely and definitive answer. I thought including @WyzeJasenJ would help, but it has not. Although this may not be a problem that everyone has, I do, and I have seen that others do as well.

I can’t even get an answer as to whetherr this is a V3 camera issue with recently released cams or a firmware issue. I suspect it’s a camera issue and therefore getting another will not help. Why is it so hard to get someone in the know to answer this basic question.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Wyze and own MANY of their devices, but this issue is really upsetting to me.
As I stated before I have this issue on one of my five V3 cams and it is the newest one. It records Cam Plus events just fine and it will also playback the SD continuous recording without any issues. I don’t like not being able to playback the SD from the events page because it is just a PITA to have to go to the playback of the SD from live view to find the correct time of an event. If you really need another cam I would spend the extra $10.00 for a V4. My V4 has no issues (Yet

I gave up and sent mine back while they were still in the return window. I went with a different brand. I prefer the Wyze app, but the cams need to function with an sd card for me.
Maybe because no one knows the answer.
If you like the Wyze brand you might try to switch from the V3 to the Wyze V4. I purchased one and all is well with the V4 and price is about the same as the V3. However, I did feel that it was very useful to add Cam Plus to the V4.
This is so f’d up, I sent back my 3 defective cams and Wyze didn’t refund my shipping. So buyer beware, this thread has documented this is an ongoing issue, yet Wyze is still selling and sending out these defective units, I realize they aren’t pocketing the shipping, but the consumer is still out the money for a product they already know has a long-standing issue. I’m kicking myself for buying direct instead of through Amazon, at least I would have been fully refunded for the defective cams.
I have the same issue. It only happens with my two newer V3 cams. The older ones work fine. Also, I can playback from the Home Screen. It’s inconvenient, but I can at least playback from there. I think they added a feature to the new CAM’s attempting to sell micro SD cards or something, and there is a bug in their code. This should be an easy fix. Remove this sales feature and the problem will go away!
Getting another V3 will not help unless it’s an older unit. My 6 older V3’s work fine. The two I just bought have the bug. Wyze needs to fix this issue or it will start affecting sales!
@kencallies
I agree. This should be way up there in terms of priority I believe.
