Pixel 9 xl not receiving Voice over IP when doorbell rings

Changed my phone to a pixel 9 xl and now I no longer am receiving any calls. My wife has an apple and it works perfectly. Not sure if she did an update or is still on the older version.

Any troubleshooting ideas? I cleared cache already. Uninstalled the app. Turned off VoIP and re enabled. Still nothing.

Welcome to the Forum, @david88!

Is the Pixel’s Phone app screening calls too aggressively and preventing your seeing these calls from the doorbell, or is it possible that you inadvertently blocked the number?

I’ve tried the VoIP option for the doorbell, but my experience is pretty limited, as I generally prefer to just get the notifications from the app and handle the “call” that way. I say that for two reasons:

  1. I don’t know for sure if the VoIP call always appears to originate from the same phone number.
  2. I believe that I’ve read elsewhere on the Forum that it does use a consistent number (again, not 100% certain about this) and that some users have created a Contacts entry for that number so that those calls are never screened out and to make them easier to recognize as doorbell calls.

I think you’ve done good troubleshooting so far. I’d probably look in the Phone app’s settings and try some test calls from the doorbell as my next stop.

Hey. The pixel is on medium screen calling like my previous phone and haven’t blocked any numbers because I haven’t received any VoIP call yet.

From my last phone, at my dad’s house it was a different number from when someone rang my doorbell. But the numbers were consistent.

I’ll continue to try and troubleshoot, but hopefully a fix will come my way by an update or something.

You need to make sure it is allowed as a Call setting:

Go to the Phone App, click the 3 Dots at the top right and select Settings. Then go to Calling Accounts then All Accounts and make sure Wyze is toggled on.

phone > settings > calling accounts > all calling accounts

Followed your steps, but there is no all calling accounts

When I had a similar issue years ago, I made sure the Permissions on my Wyze App was set to allow everything, turned off the Pause App activity if unused, Set the Battery to Allow Background usage, and turned on Display over other apps. I then made sure my Notifications Settings were as follows:

  • Pop on Screen: On
  • Vibration: On
  • Lock Screen: Show all Content
  • Show Notification Dot: On
  • Override Do Not Disturn: On

I then Cleared Cache from the App, Logged out of the App (Make sure you have your password and 2FA if used). Then Long Press the App and choose App Info and clear Cache From there and do a Force Stop.

Restart the Phone Logon and make sure you can stream the cameras.

Then Have your phone unlocked by the door and ring the Doorbell and see if anything happens on the phone, if it does, you may see the Wyze Account asking for permission. Toggle it on and it should work.

I will need to test when I get my Pixel 9 Pro.

@carverofchoice , you have your Pixel 9 Pro XL setup? If so, can you check your Doorbell and if VoIP works?

even when i ring the door bell, i do not even receivce an alert within the notification status

followed the permissions, saw phone and everything else was not allowed. enabled
everthing then tried. but failed. so cleared cache, went back and allowed all permissions on everything again, then tried the doorbell and saw a popup of allow calling account wyze.

You made my evening! thank you so much. i hope this thread helps anyone with andriod.

Thanks for tagging me. My Pixel 9 Pro XL wasn’t working with the VDB VoIP either.

I saw @david88 already found the fix and that worked for me too. I basically went into the phone app and found the setting for “Calling Accounts” and Turned on the calling account for Wyze Doorbell, then it worked. I also gave the Wyze app phone permissions, but I am not 100% sure if that was necessary, but it made sense to do so.

I did not have to clear the cache or the data.

Thanks david88 and spamoni for bringing this to my attention. I’m happy to have VoIP working again on my Pixel 9 Pro XL…I didn’t realize it wasn’t working until I tested just now. :scream:
