Piece of crap app. I have five cameras and the app won’t work with my Android ver 13
I won’t disagree with the App and Cameras being Crap ![]()
But the Wyze app does work on my Pixel with Android 16
The app works fine with Android 13. Maybe if you let people know what issue you’re having they can help, though signing up and coming in with a lousy attitude won’t attract many helpful replies.
If you are not happy withApp version 3.xx, maybe try an older Wyze App APK file. I am still happily using App version 2.50.
I just installed the Wyze app and checked the phone with Android 13 and a phone with Android 9, and the latest Wyze app installed and is working on both of them just fine, so I don’t think the App or OS version are the direct problem.
Make sure you have the newest app:
To get your exact App version: Open the app → Go to the Account tab → Select About
Consider clearing the cache and see if that helps. Your phone is a little older and older phones are a lot more prone to issues related to memory leaks and needing cache cleared more often.
Expand this for instructions to clear Cache/Memory-Leak Variables:
- CLEAR THE APP CACHE:
- At a minimum, in the app go to the Account Tab
➜ Select App Settings
➜ Go down to where it says Cache File Size
➜ select Clear on the right side. - If using Android, Go back to your phone’s home screen and Long-press on the Wyze app’s launcher icon (or wherever you tap to initially open the app)
➜ Select App info in the pop-up menu.
➜ Select Storage and Cache
➜ Tap Clear cache (and consider tapping on Clear storage too) on the Storage screen.
➜ Just to be thorough, tap Force stop on the App info screen (may need to tap OK to confirm).
- At a minimum, in the app go to the Account Tab
- Restart your phone.
- Restart your router (and modem)
- Restart the Wyze device (unplug the power cord and plug it back in)
- Now try it again with everything pulling fresh and no potential memory leaks, etc.
Also, make sure you aren’t using a long 3rd-party USB cord or adapter as those are known to cause intermittent issues due to weak power received during times when the camera needs to draw more power.
The OP’s phone is probably running a 32-bit Android OS.
In which case - OP needs to be posting their gripes to the phone maker’s forum, and can follow @StevenA’s advice and install the 2.5 app. As of now 2.5 is still working on my old 32 bit Android 8 phone fine (in fact parts of it work better than the current app).
This is not exclusive to Wyze, I now have 3 apps that will not install on my 32 bit phone (and I don’t use that many apps).
Oh yeah, if a phone is 32bit, it’s time to upgrade. Things are just going to get increasingly worse. There have also been a lot of zero day exploits that are no longer getting patched for older OS and app versions. The phones might technically continue to work but they are no longer safe by any reasonable standard.
At that point I basically convert them to other uses with a lot of limitations. I still keep some old ones available just to check things such as I’m cases like this.
I’m still on 14 (but it is a 64 bit phone). Technically no longer supported and hasn’t been getting OS level security updates, but I use so few apps and they’re all well known ones, I’m not too concerned. At some point will have to upgrade, a few things are starting to show the slowness of the older processor.
The makers that decided to keep using 32 bit architecture even though the phone can support 64 bit (which if it is new enough to run Android 13, it can) is just laziness on their part. They didn’t want to update their customized version of android. Seems to be common on the budget phones.
Phones that run the 32-bit Android usually have low RAM and/or storage. The 32-bit OS versions have smaller footprint. Even though the CPUs are 64-bit capable, the manufacturers can cram more bloat apps with the smaller OS.
Now I find out the app won’t handle 32Bit? I have an expensive Moto G regardless of operating system , Wyze should have an app that works.
You sound like a petulant child. There is nothing wrong with the app. In fact, IMO it is the strongest app yet.
You have it backwards - your phone can’t handle 64 bit, If Wyze is the first app you’ve run into that is 64 bit only, consider yourself lucky. Complain to Motorola that they ripped you off, a phone that can run Android 13 should be able to handle 64 bit, they chose to take the cheap route.
In the meantime install the wyze 2.5 app from apkmirror.com and you’ll be up and running.
It works on my Android 16 Pixel phone, as well as anything from Wyze works. I have very little luck with Wyze cameras and think they’re junk. Reolink has such a better viewing platform especially in reviewing pictures on a PC and being able to monitor in a quad format
The most “expensive” Motorola phones I see on Amazon is $399. Compare that with top of the line phones at over a grand. There should be good 64-bit phones at the same price range as your Moto phone.
My wife has a Moto G 5G (2024) with Android 14, 128 GB, 64 bit. $145.00 total price no contract of any kind. ![]()
She just uses it for a phone, that’s it.
Two months ago I bought a Fire HD 8 tablet (2020 / 10 Gen) on Woot. I used the Fire ToolBox to turn it into a straight Android tablet (which added the PlayStore App). I was then able to download FireFox which allowed me to grab the Wyze App 2.50 APK.
The Fire HD 8 is running Android 9 and the Wyze App 2.50 is working great. Just personal preference that I prefer the older Wyze App interface.
I did the same hack on refurbished Fire 8, 10 and 11 tablets. Removing all that bloat actually made them serviceable. The 11 turned out to be fast. I gave the 10 to my preschool granddaughter.
I have an older phone I use on Wi-Fi only. It’s a Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 running Android 13. It works fine with the Wyze app. The OG camera has an issue reviewing reverse clips on the SD card on all my devices. We assumed the last update would fix it but that didn’t happen. Don’t buy that cam!
