People disappear quickly during recordings V4

During playback the people will suddenly disappear within the video view or suddenly appear later then the camera would have started recording.

I have SD cards on all my Wyze cameras set to Continuous Recording. When Cloud Event video does not record everything I want to see, I jump to the SD card playback.

I do as well but I’m wondering why it’s doing that now. Firmware is up to date. My v3 doesn’t do that.

Maybe try adjusting the v4 Detection Sensitivity. If something in firmware changed, you may have to use a different setting to get back to the results you desire.

My Cam v3 cameras are Not missing motion either.

Does it seem like the video playback is skipping? I’ve seen that happen on one of my cams that is in a fringe wifi area. A stronger wifi signal should solve it if so.

My V3’s do this often. My recordings are only stored in the cloud.

It could be considered skipping I suppose. It will be recording the person then poof they disappear or it will say detected person and they don’t show up until they are just about to be out of camera view. It did start happening after update. I will lower sensitivity and see if that helps.

Want to add this particular camera is the closest to the wifi modem so I don’t think it’s that. Payback from sd card works fine. It seems to only happen for person detected, not on pets or vehicles and doesn’t happen all the time but more often then not .

During playback of said events, pay very close attention to the time stamp in the lower right corner. That is one of the easiest ways to determine if the video is skipping or not.

Ok. That will tell me if it’s skipping? If it is what is the remedy to that?

My personal fix has been daily power cycles of my cameras. If you go this route, leave it powered off / unplugged for at least 20-seconds before you power it on again. Every single one of my WYZE cameras are plugged into a WYZE plug. I schedule the daily power cycles via the plugs.

There are less expensive WiFi plugs available though. However, I like having every thing in a single app. I am hopeful that someday WYZE will have a sale on their plugs. When they do, I’ll be picking up 4 more.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try that.

I have this happen with some of my V4 cameras also. It started recently happening with more frequency. I also have recordings that show 2, 3, and even 4 minutes but when you go to play them they sometimes are 5 seconds or 10 seconds, what is causing all this?

Todd, mine does the same thing with the minutes also on my V4

Have you found a fix at all? It’s odd, it doesn’t do it on all my cameras but the important ones of course it does. Maybe I’ll do a factory reset and add them in again and see.

I haven’t. I came on the forum hoping someone knew a fix. Please post after your factory reset if it fixed the issue. Thank you

OK so if SD card playback works fine then you’re only having issues with “cloud” videos - which is where the person detection videos are stored.

That can mean it had trouble uploading the clip to wyze, or it is having trouble downloading the streaming video when you play it back.

I would first test your internet speed and make sure nothing is going on, especially with upload speed. Then I’d log into wyze web view and watch the live stream, see if it is smooth or if it is skipping or having connection issues. That might help narrow down if the issue is uploading the video or watching it after.

Actually I’d also be curious if you disable wifi on your phone (simulate being away from home) and test both SD card videos and event/cloud videos, does anything change with either one?

When you watch SD card or live stream at home on the same wifi network, it streams direct from the cam to your phone. When you watch cloud videos, they rely on the internet. So all of the above can help narrow down where the issue is happening.

I did a reset on all my cameras and they are working perfect now. Maybe it’s just something that has to be done when issues appear. It’s simple to do so glad it worked.

Thank you Todd for the update. I will give it a try.
