Not sure what happened since my last post, but within the last couple of weeks (iv’e given it time to resolve itself) the cameras stream perfectly on the Home Screen. If you click on any camera to just view that single camera, it plays for about two seconds, then gets stuck loading. If you stay on the Home Screen with all the cameras, they all play just fine, no loading error. I have the latest firmware and app before you ask.
Do you have automatic streaming on the home (favorites) screen enabled? I had issues with my Panv3s not connecting to individual streams when I had that on, shutting it off took care of it. Seems like the cam doesn’t like the rapid connect-disconnect-reconnect that happens when that feature is on in the app.
Had that turned on. I turned it off. Made no difference on my end.
Make sure you quit and reopen the app after to clear out the connections. May not be your issue I just know it has affected other Panv3 users also.
Before closing the app, go into the settings and clear the cache. Then after closing the app, go into your OS settings on your phone and clear the cache for the app there too.
All else fails, there’s always the option of uninstalling and reinstalling the app too, but I haven’t run into anything that needed that in a long time.
I deleted the app and tried disabling the auto stream feature from the home page, then starting a single camera playing on the homepage, finally loading that camera. That works. This is definitely a bug that needs fixing by Wyze. What good is an overview if it doesn’t work properly? Also I know it’s a bug because I made a workaround to the issue. Really don’t want to say what it is because Wyze may block that so you have to purchase a streaming plan. No thanks. As a Veteran on a fixed income every penny helps. Also Wyze offers no Veterans discount on streaming monthly services, only device purchases. Even Peacock offers a Vet discount.
Don’t think wyze is actively going out of their way to block fixes or workarounds.
Personally I don’t want the live stream on the favorites as it just seems to confuse either the phone, or cam, or both. So I have a camera group on my home screen that I can tap if I want to see multiple streams at once (the format is better than the favorites screen too) or I can just tap a single cam go to into the live view (not play it on favorites, but actually go to the cam’s interface). Those are the two scenarios I use and have found they suit all my needs without needing any live stream on the favorites screen.
Of course there is currently a bug where many models of cam seem to only allow 3 or 4 simultaneous streams which is impacting cam groups, hopefully they figure that one out soon. But since there are only really 3 cams that I would want to watch at the same time, my group just has 3 in it right now to avoid that issue. So actually it may be fixed and I just haven’t noticed.
That is exactly what I did. Created a camera group. Works just like the home page. Hopefully they leave that alone. They are working on too much of this AI nonsense instead of making sure the existing customers (who will upgrade later if they don’t break the system first) are happy. Otherwise, they are another google nest or Microsoft.
The myth that they are breaking things to force subscriptions isn’t true, but your analysis that they’re prioritizing stuff that brings revenue and breaking other stuff due to not spending enough time on it is likely accurate. I suppose part of me says “well, not a big surprise”, but the other part says fix your glitches before trying to introduce new stuff.
Cam group isn’t a workaround, it actually existed long before the favorites streaming feature they added, and I find it much nicer (especially in landscape mode). I even prefer it over the “monitoring” tab (though I guess monitoring can be good for trying to find the same event on multiple cams, I’ve just found it too clunky to use). Now if they’d just fix the bug where a group with more than 3 or 4 cams doesn’t result in some of those cams refusing to load…
For my fairly basic needs I’d almost consider downgrading my firmware and app back to the 2.5 version, but more and more stuff is going to break in that as they continue increasing security.
All of these issues seem to be related and seem to have started around when they started adding more security like “verified view”. It seems that either the app or the backend servers can’t maintain authentication to more than a few cams at a time. So if you’ve hit that limit on the favorites tab or a cam group, then try to bring up a different cam’s individual view, it is still at that limit and it won’t load reliably. Though I’ve found that as long as you go back to the home page (without auto stream enabled) then go to the individual cam, it seems to be fine. But tapping a cam that isn’t working in the cam group often just means it won’t work in the individual view too.
Dunno
I have the exact same issue as OP.
Several Wyze V3 Pro and V4 have been working great for many years and now they get truck at “Loading…” 2 seconds after starting live stream! Definitely frustrating. I have the latest firmware installed on all cameras. I tried deleting the app from the iPhone entirely and installing it again with no apparent fix. This issue has been ongoing for numbers of weeks. Not sure what could be the problem.
