Palm Lock Battery Modes

Hi All,

I have a glass storm door and the only setting that works with my palm lock is the extreme battery save mode. The other modes drain the battery in a few days. The Wyze AI support assistant says it’s because the storm door is moving, but that’s simply not the case. It is not exposed to the wind and does not move at all.

I assume having something close, even if it’s not moving, is causing your motion sensor to constantly trigger (I’m a hardware engineer).

Any thoughts on fixing the algorithm for the sensor, so I can use the best mode? I bought the lock because I want to walk up and use my palm. Having to touch the screen to wake it up is a fail, especially because I often have to touch the screen multiple times to wake it up. At that point, I might as well put in my code.

Thanks!

I have mine behind a glass storm door as well. I don’t suffer from battery drain. What are all of your other settings?

I have tested all of the Battery Management settings and am now on Auto. My Auto-lock is set to immediate.

Also, I am on Firmware version 1.1.6

If you can get a log and open a ticket, Wyze can look into it.

Post the Log here and I will see if I can pass it on.

Hi,

I also auto-lock immediately. My firmware says 1.1.2 (plugin version is 3.7.8) and it says I’m up-to-date… Hmm…

My Wifi is close by, and the Device Info shows 3 bars for that, so that’s not it. My only notifications are when the door is unlocked.

How do I get a log?

I figured out how to get a log…

Can you provide the Log Number so I can pass it on?

Also Note: I signed up to test Beta Firmware Releases. It could be that 1.1.6 is a Beta Release.

I tried putting it back to “Auto” mode yesterday, and the battery went from 70% yesterday to 47% this morning… Sigh…

I think it is the new Firmware. You can test that by joining the Beta Group. If you are interested you can go here: Become a Beta Tester for Wyze Products & Releases

For the iPhone, you will have to install testFlight and then you can install beta Apps as well. Once you join the Beta, assuming you do, you can go to the app and then tap on Account > About > Beta Program and then Check the devices you would like Beta Firmware for. I select all, but you need to be aware that not all devices can be rolled back to a previous Firmware version.

Also, on iOS, you can remove the beta app at anytime and then go to the Apple Store and install the prod version. This is a nice feature in iOS as Android it is a bit more difficult.

I also believe they will be releasing the updated Firmware in the near future, but not sure of exactly when. I am a community member as you and not an employee, so not privy to that information.

Edit

Just confirmed that 1.1.6 is a Beta release currently

OK, I will try the Beta today. Hopefully, it fixes it.

It’s asking me to reinstall the Wyze app and says I could lose my data - does that mean all the setup of the various Wyze devices I have? I really would not want to lose all that setup - I have many Wyze devices.

I have never lost any of my devices. I install the Wyze Beta App, then start that app. Every Device is there. Then I select the Devices I want the Beta Firmware for and that’s it.

You can always remove the Wyze App from your iOS device and then install the Prod Version again via the Apple Store

@craig2

Just to let you know, the 1.1.6 firmware will go public this week, possibly today if ready.

What kind of screen door do you have? Mine‘s all glass and it doesn’t do it, but I had one that was a screen mostly like a fly screen. That screen catches the light in a certain way it can sometimes trigger a motion effect. It may not be your situation, but it’s another thing to try

It’s a glass door and the palm lock is near the metal frame, not the glass part.

I think the 1.1.6 firmware is helping, but I won’t know for a few days to see how it’s draining.

I charged it two nights ago, and it was still 100% this morning (now 98%), so it seems this issue is resolved by 1.1.6 firmware.

Thanks!

Thank you for coming back and letting us know

You don’t even have to remove the app, the TestFlight will just overwrite the production version and vice versa.

Good to know, I always removed it. Thanks for the tip.

Well…. It seemed fine for a week, but now it’s terrible again. Within days, it went from 98% to 40-something, and then 2 days later, it’s completely dead (and those two last days it was in “Battery Saving Mode”…
I’ve submitted two logs within the last few days. The most recent one, this morning, is log ID 2057293.
